I didn’t factor that in

So, I had my CT scan.

I was told to arrive at the imaging place 45 minutes early. That was a mistake. They thought I needed to drink an oral contrast fluid, but after examining my referral they decided I didn’t – they would inject me with x-ray dye instead.

Thank heavens for that. Drinking oral contrast fluid sounds miserable.

So I got to scroll on my phone for 45 minutes while I waited for my appointment. Oh, and also sign a waiver form warning me that people sometimes die from being injected with x-ray dye.

I lived.

As for the procedure, when they inject you with the dye it feels very strange. In my case, my nethers felt like I’d wet my pants. Slightly off-putting.

Then you’re slid in and out of a big wheel-like machine while holding your breath.

It all took much longer than I expected, a two-hour chunk out of my working day.

I was pretty hungry after all that palaver and decided that my location – Chatswood – warranted a succulent Chinese meal. I was still blissed out by my Brissie chicken with cashews and went in search of a second helping to take home with me.

But Chatswood doesn’t do suburban Chinese food, it’s all hotpots and hand-pulled noodles and fish balls.

I settled for char kway teow, which was so plentiful I had it over two meals.

Then I relapsed into a miserable cold/flu/virus, which is why I didn’t blog yesterday. I felt like I was on the mend when I left the house for the CT scan, but when I arrived home it was like a bus had hit me.

In between spending long periods lying miserable in bed, I’ve managed to do bits and pieces of work. Taking sick leave has been problematic due to the weekly newsletter moving to a new platform and me not completing the how-to guide so someone else could take over.

Learnings.

I must get better soon as I’m in charge at work today due to all the other more adulty adults going away for long weekends.

I also have a busy weekend ahead myself, filled with lots of lovely things I don’t want to miss.

I hope your weekend is filled with lovely things too.
