Unfiltered Thomas & Chateau fun

I have another favourite animal on Facebook. Check out Thomas Unfiltered, I reckon it will make you laugh …

“Debraaa is currently operating a motor vehicle with the confidence of a NASCAR driver and the reflexes of a sedated sloth. I’m strapped into this little floating basket, like a toddler on a carnival ride, operated by a convicted felon. I’ve spent the last ten minutes, figuring out how to unbuckle myself and tuck and roll. I want hazard pay, life insurance, and a different mother. Even the GPS sounds like it’s about to cry. I’ve seen three ambulances today and I’m starting to think they’re following us for a reason. If the police pull us over, I am rolling over on this unhinged fruit loop so fast, her head will spin. I’ve already seen the white light twice today. Dear baby Jesus, it’s me again. I know we just spoke at that last intersection, but things have deteriorated significantly. If you get me home alive,I promise to stop barking at absolutely nothing at 3 a.m. At one point, I swear my life flashed before my eyes. It was mostly naps and chicken nuggies. Beautiful memories. Anyway, she’s reaching for her coffee again, so this may be goodbye. I’d like an open casket, assuming there’s enough of me left. Just get me home, woman!”

He never fails to crack me up. Debraaa …!

Meanwhile in the crazy whirl that is the spring drinks season, I celebrated Château Tanunda’s 2026 Collection Release last night with my sister at a function space called Events by Alpha.

The floral arrangements were next level, as was the wine.

My sister loves a good red (including the one she’s related to!) so I figured she was the perfect choice as my plus one.

The Château Tanunda 2026 Collection release marks the 136th year since the winery was established in the Barossa Valley region in 1890.

Proprietor John Geber revitalising the iconic château building and winery operations in 1998. Such an incredible building …

This year’s collection features a selection of rare, distinguished wines, predominantly from old vine parcels up to 167 years of age.

As the winemaker noted in his speech, Ned Kelly was roaming Australia when some of the vines were planted. Speaking of the winemaker, he was so lovely. We had a great chat with him and raved about how much we enjoyed his Semillon, which is a very unusual varietal for a Barossa winemaker to be championing.

We also had the opportunity to try Chateau Tanunda’s Everest, which is a spectacular drop that retails for around $400 a bottle.

There were also yummy nibbles, including fabulous rock oysters, moussaka bites, duck spring rolls and slow-roasted lamb shoulder with pita and tzatziki.

Lucky us!

Have a great weekend. I’m supposed to start eating white food only today and I forgot, so I’ll be a little hungry until I can get myself to a supermarket.

I’m thinking it’s a day of white bread sandwiches with chicken and mayo for me.

I might not have a chance to blog on Monday due to my procedure. Worst case scenario I will catch you on Tuesday.

Song of the day: UB40 “Red red wine”
