Resisting temptation

The eldest was having dinner with his dad last night and the youngest was wreaking havoc in the kitchen baking bread and cookies with her bestie … so I took myself off to IKEA – again – for some furniture browsing.

Specifically I was checking out the rattan chairs and desks.

I didn’t come home with either, but I did buy this pendant light for the lounge room, I hope it’s not a mistake …

I should have stayed at home and watched Locky sob in The Bachelor finale … but evenings are much more manageable at IKEA during these COVID-conscious times.

It was supposed to be date night – DD was coming with me for a meatball dinner, but he was too tired.

It was good – and bad – to examine the rattan chair I’ve been admiring online for WEEKS.

Good because it looked awesome … bad because it’s expensive when you add the matching seat cushion … good because I tried sitting on a cheaper cushion and confirmed it was really uncomfortable … bad because I really, really want the chair now with the expensive cushion … good because they’re out of stock at the moment, so I can’t make any rash purchases …

But I want them sooooooooooo much.

Oh, and I bought this fake plant, which I reckon was the most realistic-looking one in the store:

And now it’s almost the weekend, which means I really shouldn’t put off cleaning up the devastation that the renovation – and the youngest’s baking efforts – have wrought on the family room.

You won’t see me for dust … literally.

I don’t have much else planned other than a few walks with friends and trying not to eat too many snacks. I really, really need to lose a few COVID kilos, but I have absolutely zero self restraint.

How’s your COVID diet going?

Have a fab weekend, catch you on Monday.

PS My libation recommendation for the weekend: Gordon’s Sicilian & Soda. I’ve not previously been a huge RTD fan, but this one’s yum. I gave one to my friend Mel to try to say thank you for doing my roots – she took the luscious pic above – and she loved it.

Song of the day: Debbie Boone “You light up my life”

Which I mistakenly thought was a John Denver song … but that’s You Fill Up My Senses …

You fill up my senses
Like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again
