OK, I might only last a week, but I’ve decided to dip my toe into the gossip world and see what I’ve been missing out on.
Erm … It doesn’t seem like I’ve missed much … US Weekly and People are a bit of a wasteland of whatever-ness.
But there have been a few things that have caught my eye around the traps. Here you go:
Meghan Markle’s TV dad had a spray about her real-life dad Thomas Markle’s lack of discretion to the Telegraph in the UK.
“If you care about Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, then that should be the first and foremost in your mind before you say anything,” Suits actor Wendell Pierce said.
“If you love your daughter, just love your daughter. It’s not for public consumption.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry became the star of the show when he burst (very, very, very) briefly into song during an appearance at the hit musical Hamilton.
The show was held to raise money for the Duke’s HIV education charity Sentebale and Harry stepped on stage to thank the cast.
“You say …” the prince started to croon a few words of the song You’ll Be Back, treating the cast and crowd to a song sung by the King George III character — the Duke’s sixth-great-grandfather.
But then he had an attack of stage fright.
The theatre then erupted in cheers and laughter.
“That’s enough — he did try, but I said no,” he said, gesturing to the show’s creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who stood behind him on stage. “I don’t know how these guys do it, every single night, and in this heat as well,” Harry continued.
It’s been revealed that comedian Eddie Murphy is going to be a dad again for the 10th time at the age of 57.
He’s expecting his second child with longtime girlfriend, Paige Butcher. The 39-year-old Australian actress also shares two-year-old daughter Izzy Oona with Murphy (pictured above with his other kids).
“Eddie Murphy and longtime girlfriend Paige Butcher are pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child in December,” a rep for the star said in a statement.
Butcher, who is from Perth, appeared in 2003’s Something’s Gotta Give and 2006’s Big Momma’s House 2. She and Murphy have been dating since 2012.
The Honey Badger’s sister dished on the women in the Bachelor mansion
Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins’ sister Bernadette Cummins entered The Bachelor Mansion this week and discussed her encounter with the “mean girls” – Cat Henesey and Romy Poulier – to The Daily Telegraph.
She suggested the pair were more interested in profile building than finding love.
Duh!
She also defended her brother as the “real deal”.
“He is being his true self,” she said. “He has told us he is ready to find that one (person).”
Pink‘s husband Carey Hart got a social media thrashing for taking his hand, foot and mouth infected toddler to breakfast in an Aussie hotel’s restaurant.
He posted a photo of Jameson on Instagram with the caption: “Wanna know how glamorous tour can be? Jameson has hand, foot, and mouth; and Willow has a 102 temp. Both kids laid up and mama @pink still has to push through and do shows. I had Jameson at breakfast yesterday and this vile woman at the table next to us kept staring at him with a s—ty look on her face.”
Carey added: “I told her it was bed bugs. #NoRestForTheWicked #LifeInHotels.”
The comments section erupted with people saying the sick child shouldn’t be near other people.
“I love following your feed for sure because you are very honest. But as a mom of 3 whose kids have had HFM a few times, I say that you made a mistake. HFM is super contagious and it’s not fair to knowingly expose others…” one follower wrote. “Maybe the post should have been more to the tune of ‘f—ked up and took J out when I thought it was a rash but it’s actually contagious HFM.”
Carey responded: “No, but you are welcome to unfollow.”
Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin kept it classy during viewings of her open casket before her funeral at her home church New Bethel Baptist, changing outfits every day.
On the first day of public viewing at Detroit’s Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, she wore Christian Louboutin 5-inch patent leather pumps that matched a tea-length ruby red dress made of lace — with a full tulle skirt and chiffon overlay
On day two it was powder blue dress and matching shoes.
She finished up in rose gold custom knit suit with pink beaded lace, pink South Sea pearl necklace and earrings and rose gold sequin Christian Louboutin heels.
Franklin died on August 16, 2018 of pancreatic cancer at the age of 76.
Sophie Monk has revealed she’s in a new relationship with an Aussie expat she pashed on a recent business class flight and hasn’t seen since.
“I’m sitting next to this random and it was business class but there was no divider. He was so charming and funny and he had no idea what I did,” she said.
“I was sitting there for a while and I went, ‘Hey, um, are you single?’ And he went, ‘Yeah.’ I went, ‘I don’t ever get to meet people in normal scenarios and, um, can I kiss you?’
“I thought, ‘Oh god I’ve got a 10-hour flight with this guy, if he says no I’m in trouble,’” Monk said.
But he was up for it, so they went to separate bathrooms on the plane to brush their teeth first.
“The lights were down, everyone else was asleep,” Monk said. “I went, ‘OK, shall we do this?’ And we kissed.”
They made out for “a couple of hours” and haven’t stopped talking on the phone since.
“How many times have you seen him?” radio host Kyle Sandilands asked.
“Once … on the plane,” Monk answered, laughing.
“When I say it out loud it doesn’t really make sense … but it does to me,” she said. “I feel like it’s going to work. He’s normal, down to earth, intelligent. He thinks I’m smart, that’s the problem.”
Monk has plans to meet up with him again soon.
PS: That’s not the “random” in the pic with her, it’s a shot from Italy of her filming her travel show with Oscar Gordon.
I might start doing HouseGoesHollywood once a week, not sure. Thoughts? I know some of you HATE it.
