I took the kids to see Sculpture by the Sea – have you been? It’s one of our favourite things to do each year. The kids love exploring the artworks and taking photographs.
I hardly needed to take any snaps at all. I just stole theirs for the blog.
DD tagged along with us, so I got the kids to take a few photos of us too. We only have a couple of selfies of ourselves together, so I felt like a bit of a superstar having two kids clicking away.
Unfortunately DD and I are both extremely camera shy, so neither of us were happy with any of them. I finally settled on one that I was sort of OK and we’re not even looking at the camera in it.
It was a gorgeous afternoon – perfect weather for a stroll from Bondi to Tamarama.
The youngest was totally transfixed by the giant Nifty bottles in the sand that squirted water. I was a sucker for anything with an ocean backdrop. That view beats anything man-made (sorry sculptors).
When we’d finished being arty we scoffed dumplings at Miss Chu, then wandered wearily home.
My tip for anyone planning a visit is not to try getting there via the Harbour Tunnel on a weekday afternoon. It took FOREVER. We’ve resolved to try for an early-morning commute next year.
But, on balance, it was worth the arduous trek.
Great photos! Don’t feel I’ve missed out now. Nice to see you and DD. He’s real! 😉
Sure is! And a sweetheart
That’s a lovely pic of you and DD. Cool photos of the art too. I think I’ll take my son after school one day. Was planning on getting up at 6am to go yesterday but it just didn’t happen!
6am is tough! I’m not loving starting work at that time. Blah
It’s a lovely, natural, happy photo. Sometimes when people look at the camera it looks too posed. Notice you’re wearing coats! It’s boiling hot up here.
It’s boiling here today. Weird weather.
