I’ve had 50 million tests and scans during my health overhaul and Hot Doc has been pinging me to make telehealth appointments for each result.
I did that once and ignored the other requests. I figured I’d just wait and hear all the news at once.
But the doctor actually called me the other night. I was cooking dinner and missed it, checked my messages and went into complete meltdown mode about WHY he was calling.
Your doctor doesn’t call you to let you know everything is fine. He calls because there’s a problem.
Being an overthinker, it took me 30 seconds to send myself into a complete panic.
I tried calling him back, but it was after hours and all I got was a recorded message. I tried two more times in the faint hope he’d pick up, then abandoned myself to a night of worry.
Bless him, the doctor called back five minutes later and I pounced on my phone.
He asked if I’d been overseas lately. Hmmmm, no, not recently. Sigh.
Then he said I’d tested positive for a nasty bug.
Ohhhhhh, I exclaimed, that would be the near-death experience I had over Easter!
Soooooo sick.
And then I thought, hang on, Easter was a VERY long time ago, should I still be testing positive?
But mainly I was relieved he wasn’t calling about something fatal.
My doctor said it was a bit concerning to still be testing positive after all this time, so he sent me an e-script for a three-pill dose of super strong antibiotics.
They have not agreed with me. At all. Around two to three hours after I take one I feel extremely grim. Nausea, fatigue and other symptoms that shall not be named.
I hope they do the trick.
My doctor told me to make an appointment with him in two weeks time to run through all my other results, which I am presuming means there is nothing to worry about in the other stuff.
Although I am pretty sure he will be on my case about being obese.
I am going to use the excuse of being under the weather with the nasty bug as the reason I still haven’t joined a gym.
Anyhoooo … Have the best weekend. I’m hosting a lovely visitor. Will give you the lowdown next week.
