I had a premonition

The weather was looking pretty squally as I was getting ready for work yesterday.

So I grabbed my all-weather Vivid Sydney crew jacket from the cupboard.

I must have had a premonition, as I was asked late in the afternoon to attend a media call for a Vivid Sydney preview.

It came in very handy when I joined the thronging crowds at Custom’s House – I looked super official!

Australian fashion duo Romance Was Born is making its Vivid Sydney debut on the facade of Customs House with House of Romance: Dreams Collide.

Iced Vovo inspired frocks, a multi-coloured crochet collage reminiscent of your nan and a neon-underwater reef burst to life across the façade in a kaleidoscope of colour, couture and pure fantasy. (I got that evocative description from the Vivid Sydney website.)

The designers were attending, alongside various bigwigs, cameramen, journalists and influencers.

It was pretty drizzly down at Circular Quay and I was in a flap about the dogs being left alone for 10 hours to wee all over my apartment, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.

She works hard for the money and all that.

Well she bustles around looking officious.

I can reliably report that it’s a gorgeous light installation.

But my festival duties don’t end there.

Vivid Sydney kicks off on Friday and I have two shifts in its control centre. I am not very good at staying up until 11pm, let alone working until then.

Wish me luck!
