That’s it, I’m walking

I should have been unpacking my new house yesterday.

But I went for a very looooooong walk instead.

It was so long, it felt like I was training for Coastrek. Coastrek is HUGE around my way, uber trendy among the school mums. I admire the sentiment – raising money to restore sight through the great work of The Fred Hollows Foundation – but I can’t think of anything worse for your body. Everyone seems to sustain terrible injuries along the 55km route.

All I did was walk and walk and walk.

OK, that’s not entirely true. I went to the gym at 8am. Then I made my ex a cup of tea as we packed for the eldest to go to camp. Then I made him another cup of tea when he came back over to try and fix my printer so he could print out the kids’ band registration forms. But it appears I’ve permanently blown it up by failing to replace the ink cartridges.

No tea offers were made on his third visit to collect the youngest’s saxophone because it was getting faintly ridiculous.

I also spent a few hours texting DD – as we do – before he got on a plane home. He almost missed his flight because he was too busy buying jeans in a Florida mall the size of a suburb. He was so horrifyingly late that he literally had to run from security with his belt and shoes in one hand and his luggage in the other (as it was too late to check it in), with his pants falling down.  Yes, he was that annoying last person who holds up an entire flight.

But, after all that, I walked and walked and walked: with my friend Wendy at 2pm, with my sister at 4pm and with my friend Mel at 7pm.

It was tiring but very therapeutic. Walking with friends and sisters is such a good way to catch up. You get exercise, you get a goss, and you don’t spend a cent on coffee or alcohol or food.

Win. Win. Win.

So many lovely chats and fresh air and endorphins.

So much more fun than unpacking a boring old house.

I really must unpack my boring old house.

Sigh.

What’s your favourite way to exercise?
