My sister visited last night with more goodness from Dales Downtown Meats in Uralla. This time it was sausages.
I served them with Recipe Tin Eats Roast Sweet Potato with Avocado Crema. I threw in some corn on the cob and cauliflower to boost the vitamins.
Delicious.
Here’s a video on how to make it sans cauliflower and corn …
Ten out of 10 recommend.
We also sipped a few glasses of Fat Bastard Chardonnay as an eff ewe to one.
The soundtrack to our meal was the Elvis documentary soundtrack, which my sister gave me for my birthday and I have on high rotation most nights. Obsessed.
The topics of conversation included my love of the movie Project Hail Mary.
My sister finally caved to my constant recommendations and watched it on Sunday night.
I am so obsessed with that movie. I saw it a second time on my way back from Fiji and loved it even more. I would watch it again in a heartbeat.
The social media algorithms have picked up on this and serve me lots of fascinating movie morsels. It’s been interesting to see how Ryan Gosling and the director played with the script and made it even more moving with less words.
I have so many favourite bits. One is towards the end when Stratt is sailing on a ship in the frozen ocean, smiling as she views Ryland’s video message outlining how to save the Earth.

It’s particularly poignant right now because the Earth feels very much like it needs saving. How can it be this hot just days after August, which is traditionally very, very cold.
And elsewhere around the globe, droughts and floods and collapsing glaciers are devastating countries and communities.
What have we done?
I feel so guilt-ridden about this broken world we are handing to our children.
But the movie also generated lots of positive emotions. I was delighted by the love that grew between Ryland and the alien Rocky in the movie – they embraced each other’s differences rather than being repelled by them.
The other chitter chat over dinner veered, randomly, to Bradfield City. My sister is preparing to host a Club Hibernia NSW evening exploring the future of Bradfield and Western Sydney, and what this next generation of infrastructure will mean for the people, businesses and professionals who will deliver it.
She’s in property and I’m in visitor economy, so we had lots of common ground to explore.
Bradfield is Australia’s first new city built in over a century, located directly adjacent to the Western Sydney International Airport. It will be fascinating to watch it evolve.
I found myself oddly transfixed yesterday, watching GoPro vision from the cockpit as the first passenger plane landed at the airport.
My sister ran me through her speech and she’s going to nail it. Very proud sister.
We also confirmed our next two plus one events that we’ll attending together. I reckon they’ll be awesome!
