Now I know I was bemoaning a hangover yesterday, but what’s a girl/middle-aged woman supposed to do when she’s invited to the official launch of the second annual Chablis Week?
Go, of course!
Even if it felt a little naughty on a Monday night …
Held at Little Felix, the event provided a first taste of what’s on offer during Chablis Week. From 31 August to 13 September 2026, 17 participating Merivale venues across Sydney are showcasing a curated selection of Chablis wines.

I looooooooove Chablis, so I was excited to attend, even though I didn’t have a plus one along for the ride.
Renowned for their vibrant freshness, purity, precision and minerality, Chablis wines are the French cousins of Aussie chardy.
While I started my adult life as a riesling girl, before briefly embracing Shaw & Smith Sauvignon Blanc, I’ve found I prefer less acidic wines in my later years.
And I really enjoyed discovering Chablis during last year’s Chablis Week celebrations. Aside from attending a tasting event in The Rocks, DD and I also shared the most sensational bottle during a dinner for two at Bert’s in Newport.
Last night was my first time at Little Felix, a Parisian-style cocktail bar in the Ivy Precinct in Sydney’s CBD.

Such a gorgeous spot! And so many oysters! I ate at least 10 and could have slurped down more if I wasn’t embarrassed by how many empty shells were on my plate compared to everyone else’s.
You’d have gone home a little hungry if you don’t like oysters, but fortunately I love them.

And I have a new favourite wine, Chablis Premier Cru, Côte de Léchet, Julien BROCARD. Oh my giddy aunt, the splash I tasted was delicious.
According to the media release you can drink a whole bottle of it accompanied 12 oysters at Bert’s for $200 during Chablis Week …
If I win the lottery that I don’t have a ticket in, I am going to spend the rest of my life shopping at COS, going on endless Ponant cruises and drinking lots of Premier Cru Chablis while slurping down oysters. Dreamy!

A lot of photography took place among influencers and there were a couple of bites that weren’t seafood – the Gougères pictured above were decadent mouthfuls of ham, comté and mustard in choux buns.

On my way to the event at 6pm and as I headed to the bus at 8pm, I marvelled at the constant queue outside Little Felix’s sister venue Totti’s at on a Monday night. Blimey Merivale knows how to draw a crowd.
