I sipped something very potent yesterday and it didn’t contain a drop of alcohol. I was sent a sample of a new sparkling water product that’s “enlivened” with caffeine.
No calories, no booze bus worries, maximum buzz. It’s called Caffie and I’ll be interested to see how it goes. It’s targeting the premium market rather than teen slurpers.
It will initially only be available at restaurants, bars, cafés, pubs and hotels.
I expect it will be embraced as a way to get your kicks by people abstaining from alcohol, on a diet, or who are lactose intolerant and missing their coffee fix.
It contains the same amount of caffeine as a strong coffee and I was spun out – probably because it can take me half the day to sip my strong flat white and I downed the Caffie in 20 minutes.
That was probably the high of my day.
The low was going to a general meeting in the garage of my apartment block. I was so anxious ahead of the meeting, worrying about the arguments and sniping that might break out.
But the usual culprit was sweet as pie, which totally threw me. What’s she up to? Leopards don’t change their spots.
The meeting blew another night in what has been a hectic week, busy, busy.
I didn’t get a chance to blog yesterday because Wednesday got away from me.
I had dinner with some old Cosmopolitan magazine mates. We get together a few times a year at the same Thai restaurant and order exactly the same dishes every time. No need to open our menus, I just rattle off to the waiter: betel leaves, chicken satay skewers, mixed greens, duck stir fry, lamb massaman and lemongrass prawns.
The conversation was lively and we’ve promised to organise another get-together before Christmas.
I got home and churned out a Drinks Digest newsletter. I finally got to bed around 10.30pm and didn’t have the headspace to even consider a blog topic for Thursday.
Today promises to be hectic too. I’m bolting up north to drop DD to the hospital for a procedure.
Have a great weekend, I’m hoping to wash the stress away with a swim in the ocean tomorrow in the unseasonable 29C heat, hello climate change.
I also figured I might as well volunteer to be on duty for work on Sunday, as I won’t be doing the Father’s Day thing this year.
Sending love to all my friends who have lost their dads recently.
Catch you Monday.
