Need a laugh?

The world feels pretty scary right now. All the anger. All the hate.

So many wars. So much corruption.

The terrible climate change tragedy that has devastated Nepal and Tibet.

The epidemic of teens assaulting, terrorising and stealing.

The good ones dying instead of the bad ones.

I’ve been in desperate need of a laugh and I found it in comedian Michael McIntyre. While I’ve seen lots of snippets of him performing in the past, he hadn’t registered as hilarious to me, until …

If you need a laugh, I thoroughly recommend it.

Bless comedians. They make it look so easy, but it’s hard work putting yourself out there on the stage.

Bless Trevor the Iggy too, he also puts a smile on my face, posing in his crazy outfits on Facebook …

And I’m also oddly obsessed right now with watching a couple called Kristin and Jamil eat fast food. They usually film the reels in their car and buy lunch swaps for each other that invariably feature lots of fried stuff.

I find their calorific adventures strangely fascinating – I must have watched about 30 of them over the past week.

The news cycle, on the other hand, is pretty grim. But I can’t look away from that either.

I worry we have created a nightmare world for our kids. Or does it just overwhelming because social media delivers graphic immediacy to our phones that are constantly in our hands?

I hope your weekend is a happy one, spent with those you love and not doing too much doom scrolling.
