I’ve been blogging for 14 years, which also means I haven’t worked in weekly magazines for 14 years.
And it shows.
DD asked me yesterday who Pedro Pascal was and my knowledge was limited to him being an actor that women swoon over.
I couldn’t tell him anything Pedro had starred in or anyone he’d dated.
I was also shocked to discover over the weekend that Charlie Sheen has been sober since 2017.
Hang on … how did I miss that?
He’s just created his own non-alc beer brand, Wild AF – which sparked my interest for Drinks Digest – coinciding with the release of his new autobiography The Book of Sheen and him appearing in the Netflix documentary AKA Charlie Sheen.
Charlie’s career included breakout roles in Platoon and Major League in the 1980s and starring in Two and a Half Men in the 2000s.
After that he was pretty much only known for partying and prostitutes.
But he’s been sober since 2017 … I thought he was still on a permanent bender.
(One of my golden oldie stories involves partying with Charlie at the launch of Planet Hollywood … well … I said hello to him. I mainly hung out at the pay phone gasping to my ex while everyone from Cindy Crawford to Bruce Willis walked past.)

According to People magazine Charlie decided he wanted to be the kind of dad his kids (Cassandra, 41, Sami, 21, Lola, 20 and twins Max and Bob, 16) could rely on.
“I keep a [mental list] of the worst, most shameful things I’ve done, and I can look at that in my head if I feel like having a drink,” he said.
I’ve decided missing Charlie’s reform is proof that I’ve moved on from my days as a gossip magazine queen. The old me knew every minute detail of every celebrity’s life.
I appear to have rid myself of that addiction.
And long-time blog followers will remember how hard it was to break the habit.
I even started my own HouseGoesHollywood column to scratch the itch and bombarded people with it every week. Or was it every day? Can’t remember.
I’m off to a celebrity event of a very different kind tonight. Not sure how late it will run. Will blog if I have enough petrol in the tank.
Song of the day: Simple Minds “Don’t you forget about me” (from The Breakfast Club, which starred Charlie’s brother Emilio)
