Both my kids have an assortment of auto-immune-related issues, which could be blamed on genetics or environment or microplastics or I don’t know what.
They soldier on without too much complaint, but I feel terribly guilty to have delivered them into the world with so many ailments.
The youngest has been freezing in her university accommodation due to her poor circulation, so I bought her a Tontine heated throw from Woolies and delivered it to her on Sunday, along with a spelt loaf because she’s on a low-fodmap diet to ease her gut issues.

Oh, and I also bought her a beer paddle at a craft brewery (not quite sure how that works with fodmap diet) and some pants from Lorna Jane for work experience.
I offered to buy a heated throw for the insomniac eldest as well, but he says he sleeps better in the cold.
He also sent me a pic of his latest artwork, which features faces that have been cast from aluminium. I also received a fascinating video of the faces being pickaxed out of their casting materials. Here are a couple of screenshots and a close-up of the finished work.

Other than delivering succour and admiring artworks, my weekend was a slower whirl than usual.
I slept for an unprecedented nine hours on both Friday and Saturday nights due to exhaustion from my previous working week. On Saturday I went for walk and brekkie with my friend Emily, got my hair cut, bought a cheap rug from Kmart for the spare room (I’ve decided it’s the wrong shade of sage, but I will live with it for now), roasted myself some chicken for dinner, made a few trips to the supermarket and did 50 million loads of washing.

I was a little freaked out by my new cut – I feel bit like Bjorn from ABBA – but DD gave his tick of approval when I sent him the above selfie.
I asked the hairdresser about going ash blonde for a change and he said I’d have to cut off all my hair or grow out the red to do it, so I’ll stick with the current shade for now, but MAN there’s a lot of upkeep involved in remaining a redhead in your late 50s.
In other news, I decided it was puffer jacket weather for the dogs and gave the spare room a complete makeover (doona a bit wrinkled, sorry, am not a details person) …

I may also have made an enquiry about another cruise, despite only having 18 hours of annual leave in the kitty.
It’s an addiction.
There could be worse ones.

DD spent his long weekend exploring Vienna and Bratislava – the capital of Slovakia – which is way more exotic than my adventures. And now he’s off to another conference in Hamburg.
How was your weekend?
