I am hopeful that I’ve turned a corner in my empty nester journey. It’s been almost three days since I’ve shed a tear.
I have decided getting my apartment in shape and sorting out all the cupboards will be my temporary purpose while I search for a more permanent one.
The first step was building a bed for the spare room. I have framed and hung one of the eldest’s prints over it.

Doesn’t it look awesome?
I’ve also fielded a few calls from the kids, who’ve needed their mum.
The youngest had – once again – let one of her prescriptions lapse. I talked her through how it wouldn’t kill her (but make her stronger), to ring the specialist herself and ask for a new one. A milestone moment!
The eldest has a blocked shower drain and I suggested he buy a plunger from Bunnings before calling the real estate agent and requesting a plumber. We agreed clogged hair might be the problem.
I feel a little more inner peace this week. I will try to hang onto that during a few crazy weeks on the work front, including Vivid Sydney, a few awards nights and an interstate trip, together with a couple of drinks events.
OK, I’d better get cracking. There are dogs to walk, newsletters to send and another working day to tackle, with a trip to Sugar Paws for some fur baby grooming during my lunch break.
No time to mope!
Song of the day: ABBA “Mamma mia”
