Bad first impression

I am tired and cranky. Work is far too busy and my social plans keep chopping and changing.

I can’t bitch about work on the blog, but the stress is waking me up far too early.

As for my after-work plans …

I do not like chopping and changing. I make arrangements and I stick to them. If I say I will be there, I will be there. And I will be punctual.

I was supposed to be at a Regent Seven Seas cruise information night this week, but they let me down.

They sent an email a few months ago, announcing they were holding an information night on September 12. While I don’t have any annual leave left until mid-2026, I was keen to kick their tyres.

So I went onto their website, booked the September 12 session and was startled to be issued with tickets for September 25.

I emailed the cruise line and a bloke called Richard assured me it was a terrible mistake that he would sort out.

It wasn’t a terrible mistake, the website and Richard had it wrong.

The tickets were issued by Event Brite, which put an automatic placeholder in my diary for 6pm on September 25.

DD asked me yesterday what I was up to this week – as we don’t usually see each other mid-week – and I reminded him we had the cruise information night on Wednesday.

He replied that the cruise information night was on Thursday. I rechecked the tickets, which definitely said September 25.

As the Event Brite placeholder in my diary was for September 25, I had agreed to host a body corporate meeting at my place on September 26 (which also meant turning down a gin launch party, dammit, busy night).

I went through my emails and found one that said the event was on September 26. What the actual?

DD checked and yep, they got it wrong twice. Scratch September 12, scratch September 25, it’s (apparently) on September 26.

At that point I decided Regent Seven Seas were not my kind of people. I do not trust them. They are not reliable.

I emailed them and said I was no longer available for their information night due to the confusing details they had given me.

I reckon there will be a few hungry, disgruntled retirees loitering in the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel tomorrow night, wondering what happened to their free canapes.

Bloody ridiculous series of stuff ups.

I don’t think I could count on that mob to handle a cruise booking based on how badly they run their information night bookings.

Anyhoo. Hopefully my fury at the world abates soon. In the meantime, don’t mess with me. I may shout. Or cry. Or both.

Fingers crossed DD wins lotto tonight. I will become a lady of leisure, get Invisalign braces for my snaggle tooth, buys lots of linen and go on a gazillion non-Regent cruises.

    1. Hi Caroline, it’s good to know that Regent cruises are great. We’ve head good things, just seem to be a bit disorganised at their Australian office
