Not much happened yesterday, unusually for me.
It’s very quiet in the apartment these days with just the eldest and I.
I was pretty tired from partying with 60 year olds who go until 2am on Friday night, then back up for lunch the next day and rage on until midnight on the Saturday night.
I made peace with the youngest before she headed back to uni with a box of fruit and veg she’d had delivered to my place.
I am slowly recalibrating from the state I got myself in.
I wrote a media release yesterday, which was a nice change of pace. I haven’t done that for ages. I spend most of my time updating the corporate website and writing LinkedIn posts.
The media release had lots of data in it for me to play with, which I find weirdly enjoyable.
Last night I made Recipe Tin Eats’ baked fried rice for dinner.
The youngest accidentally took my spring onions, so I had to trek back to Woolies for more.
The oven temperature was too high, so now I’m trying to soak a hard crust of rice off the bottom of my casserole dish.
It was quite tasty though. The eldest gave it two thumbs up.
I have discovered there is a group called The Dull Women’s Club on Facebook.
It has 548,000 members and for some reason it keeps popping up in my feed. The members talk about their shoe size a lot, I’m not quite sure why. Maybe because it’s dull?
I find myself quite fascinated by the posts and the photos of the nice women who write them. They seem so at peace with their lives and their hobbies. It’s quite soothing.
Today will be a little less dull for me – I will head to the office and spend the time hoping the dogs keep their legs crossed and don’t wee anywhere.
It is my ex husband’s birthday – once a big date on my calendar. No longer. The apartment will be extra quiet due to the eldest being out at the celebration.
DD is arriving around 10pm to spend his first-ever night at my new place. He’s flying back from a business trip and has to be in the city for a meeting at sparrow’s fart, so he’s decided it’s more practical to stay close to the city.
He tried sleeping over when I had the small bedroom, but couldn’t cope with the heat, noise and claustrophobia. He got up after about an hour and headed home.
Fingers crossed tonight is more successful.
Catch you tomorrow.
Song of the day: Robert Palmer “Johnny and Mary”
wow, that vid brings back memories!…..and yeah, I love hanging with youngsters, I like the vib, learning new things, new tunes, new music – wow, they don’t all listen to Taylor Swift? – and better yet, kids don’t care what we think……but, yeah, I usually need to nap for days afterwards
