Leavin’ on a jet plane

Yesterday did not get off to the best start.

I packed my laptop bag with some olive and rosemary bread for my brekkie, some pearl cous cous salad for lunch and a bottle of water for hydration and trekked into the city.

When I opened my bag at the office I discovered I’d forgotten the most important item to pack in a laptop bag … the laptop.

So I had to trek back to the bus stop and head home.

This would have been fine if I hadn’t organised to go to the launch of Summer Cup at Hickson Road Distillery with my friend Nathan.

Hickson Road is literally a block from where I work … when I remember to bring my laptop to the office.

It would have been the perfect little pootle after knock off time, instead I had to catch another bus into town. Dammit.

Hickson House Wild Rosé Summer Cup is a contemporary Australian twist on classic British fruit cup aperitifs. It was launched as a limited edition last summer.

After winning both Gold and Best in Class (Flavoured Gin) at the Australian Gin Awards 2023, it has joined Hickson House’s permanent range by popular demand.

Nathan and I sampled it in various cocktails as we caught up on life the universe and everything.

DD sent me a pic of himself having a cocktail in Philadelphia, so I returned the favour … with a little help from Nathan …

Then I scurried off home because I needed to pack for my weekend away.

Yep, I’ve leavin’ on a jet plane.

DD was supposed to be coming with me, but he got a better offer and went to America.

However, I just woke to the news that Qantas has cancelled my flight, which has messed with my plans.

What possible reason could there be for cancelling a 4.30pm flight on a Friday?

I’d better go sort that out. Have a great weekend and I’ll fill you in next week.
