Richard Gere is about to become a dad again at 69.
He’s expecting a baby with wife, Alejandra Silva, 35. The Spanish activist and publicist posted a photo on Instagram of the couple with the Dalai Lama.
“A very special moment just a few minutes ago … Getting blessings for our precious to come,” Silva wrote. “We couldn’t announce it before telling HH Dalai Lama.”
Of course you couldn’t!
Gere told Hello! magazine he was “the happiest man in the universe” after the couple married. The actor was previously married to supermodel Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995, and actress Carey Lowell from 2002 to 2016, with whom he has a 18-year-old son, Homer.
Silva has a five-year-old son from a previous relationship.
Speaking to Spanish magazine Hola, Silva described Gere as “my hero in real life”.
“I was a little lost, without light, and meeting him gave sense to my life,” she told the magazine. “I felt like someone was stretching out his hand and showing me the true path.”
Australian comedian Hannah Gadsby, riding a wave of fame following her Netflix stand-up special Nanette, presented the award for Directing for a Drama Series at the Emmys.
She joked that presenting was a good gig “for somebody like me, a nobody from nowhere: gets this sweet gig, free suit and new boots…. just because I don’t like men!”
“Just jokes, fellas, calm down. Hashtag ‘not all men.’ But a lot of ‘em. Nobody knows what jokes are, but especially men. Am I right fellas? That’s why I’m presenting alone,” she said.
After she announced The Crown director Stephen Daldry as the winner, she noted: “Stephen could not be here tonight to accept the Emmy on… his own behalf. SO I think I just leave now, and that’s… well done him,” she said, shrugging as she backed off the stage.
Gadsby made a big impression in her short appearance – and gained a lot of new fans:
One tweeted: “I don’t know who Hannah Gadsby is, but can she host next year?”
I really need to watch Nanette because I didn’t really get her Emmys routine. I’m also a bit over the men are bad thing.
On that note, a lovely bloke called Glenn Weiss took to the stage at the Emmys to accept the award for Directing a Variety Special and blew the audience away.
He said it was a “bittersweet” time given the death of his mother just two weeks earlier.
“Mum always believed in finding the sunshine in things, and she adored my girlfriend Jan. Jan, you are the sunshine in my life, and mum was right, don’t ever let go of your sunshine. You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend — because I want to call you my wife.”
He then produced his late mother’s ring and asked Jan to join him on stage.
Amid a standing ovation from the stunned crowd she said YES! Naaaaawwwww.
As one tweeter wrote: “Find someone who looks at you the way Benedict Cumberbatch looked during that Emmys proposal.”
Oh, and The Fonz reunited with Richie Cunningham … and also got his first-ever Emmy. Go Henry Winkler!
“I was 27 when I started doing ‘The Fonz.’ I’m now 72 and I’m standing right here in front of you with her (the Emmy statuette). Wow,” Winkler said later during a backstage press conference.
Winkler was nominated three times for an Emmy while playing Fonzie.
He finally scooped an Emmy for his role in a show called ‘Barry’.
Masterchef judge George Calombaris and his girlfriend of 11 years, Natalie Tricarico, tied the knot in Greece last weekend.
The lavish reception is believed to have taken place at the Island Athens Riviera resort.
The couple had a long list of celebrity guests including George’s fellow MasterChef judges Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan, as well as Shannon Bennett, Nigella Lawson, Manu Feildel, Miguel Maestre and Matt Moran.
An Instagram photo (below) showed Natalie in a stunning, champagne gown with a plunging neckline with her daughter Michaela, 5, by her side. In the background, Calombaris could be seen wearing a suit by the altar.
The pic above is of George with some of his famous friends.
Speaking of Shannon Bennett … his soon-to-be-ex-wife and former Neighbours actress Madeleine West has revealed how she’s handling her split from the celebrity chef.
She’s currently promoting her new show Playing For Keeps while juggling their six children, aged between four and 12: Phoenix, Hendrix, Xascha, Xanthe and twins, Xalia and Margaux.
Lots of Xs there …
Earlier this month, West told Stellar magazine they are focusing on reconnecting “as friends and parents”.
“Having a public profile, having two high-pressure careers, having a multitude of children — and I will say they are a lot harder to train than dragons — it puts exponential pressures on a relationship,” West said.
“Cracks can form, and things that we don’t necessarily plan in the beginning can happen.”
Jessica Simpson is adding another member to her family!
The singer and fashion designer is expecting her third child — a baby girl — with husband Eric Johnson. She made the announcement via a gender reveal on Instagram Tuesday morning with a photo set of her two kids Ace Knute, 5, and Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 6.
“SURPRISE … ” Simpson, 38, captioned the first image of her kids about to pop two large polka-dot balloons to find out if they were having a brother or a sister.
“This little baby girl will make us a family of five. We couldn’t be happier to announce this precious blessing of life.”
