I’m outta here!

I’m a bit – OK, very – stressed about everything I need to do before leaving for Shanghai.

I felt shaky as I left the office yesterday.

As I’m working from home today, there were heaps of loose ends that needed to be tied up.

Of course, as things always go, I was in back-to-back meetings until about 2.30pm, feeling increasingly panicked with every moment that passed.

My heart sank a little on the drive home from work when my phone started ringing. It was someone I’d been chasing all afternoon for an interview. While it was great that she’d returned my call, I was staring down the barrel of prepping dinner and grabbing the kids from skipping.

I pulled into the driveway, put some water on to boil noodles for dinner, then buzzed her back and scribbled down a few notes.

After dinner, it was up to the local Westfield for last-minute supplies for the youngest for Shanghai – life was going to end without new black bikini bottoms and a sports bra – and then onto the computer to write up the quotes from the interview and send off the story for approvals.

I was VERY crabby by around 9.30pm and snapped at both the dogs and the kids for being annoying and messy.

I still haven’t even thought about what I’m packing or gotten around to writing notes for the dogsitter or 500 million other last-minute things. But I was waaaaaay too tired to even contemplate anything other than sticking some plates in the dishwasher and heading to bed.

Of course, being wound up tight meant I crashed for an hour, then woke up and fretted for the next three.

Like that will help keep the angst at bay today.

I’m really hoping that despite the 33C heat, Shanghai gives me a chance to unwind.

I’m digitally detox while I’m there … helped by the fact there’s no Facebook or Instagram in China.

Well, sort of.

I’m taking photos and writing updates that I’ll email to one of the coaches to post on the Northbridge Knockouts website and Facebook page.

It’s going to be an amazing few weeks. I can’t wait to tell you about my adventures when I get back.

Catch ya! World Rope Skipping Championships here we come!
