A bit lost

Yesterday was a tired, irrational kind of day. You know the ones? My head was too full and I only slept three hours. At 4.30am I checked the time on my phone – I still can’t find my bedside clock after the move – and saw two messages I really wish I hadn’t, because there was no way I was getting back to sleep after them.

One was work related, one personal, both unsettling.

Now I come to think about it, the whole week has been a bit of a tired mess, what with moving house and all. I have to keep reminding myself not to take it out on others. It’s tempting when plans change or annoying requests are made to blame the innocent party for all the other angst going on in my life.

They are not deliberately trying to fark with me. Don’t read so much into it. Relax. Go with the flow.

But it’s hard when the bright spots need to shine like stars to guide me or I get a bit lost.

On the other hand, getting a bit lost in a bright spot could be quite nice too.

Fortunately, all it takes is a natter with a kindred spirit and I’m back on the true path. Yesterday it was a lovely former Novocastrian called Kim.

She works at Wotif as a PR queen and was down from Brissie to host a function. It was my first official duty as a travel writer (though I accidentally called myself “travel editor” in the story I published when I got back … The dangers of self-subbing … Eeek!) and we have a delightful yabber in-between speeches.

I felt very smiley after that. Though I could have done without further proof I need a cheek-lift in the pic we had taken together …
