I was a great believer in karma. I trusted it to get the bad guys in the end.
But you know what: she who is meanest and dirtiest wins, and I don’t see any consequences.
What else explains my month of disaster while the mean girls thrive?
Last week one of my enemies (sadly I’ve collected a few totally delusional/maniacal ones) suggested I was akin to the devil. Ah, how I wish I had the energy for such evil. Sadly not.
I wasn’t always so whatever-will-be. In a blog called Revenge I wrote: “Revenge is a dish best served cold, whatever that means. According to The Urban Dictionary it’s an old saying from the Mafiosi in Sicily: “The best payback is the one that comes with planning, and that brings the most horrendous pain to your enemies when they are not expecting and are just enjoying the fruits of all the dishonor they brought upon you. One must wait so he can really inflict pain to those who wronged him. Careful planing is necessary so your enemies will suffer terribly, but you won’t be harmed by the Law or by your enemies’ allies.” Deliciously brutal …”
That was then … this is they’re-so-not-worth-it now.
Anyhoo … last week was mostly spent in Los Angeles for work, nursing a bugger of a flu that virtually stole my voice. But I still managed to struggle to the stores to buy the youngest some sneakers with flashing lights, a spotty dress and popping candy, while the eldest scored a David Bowie t-shirt, spider-web leggings and thongs with skeleton bones on them.
I also found the energy to further indulge my obsession with orange fashion, adding chinos and sneakers to my extensive collection. Yum!
As for the blog …
>> I had chicken nuggets and $300 champagne in a friend’s hotel room.
>> I begged for tipping tips while lounging poolside at my Pasadena hotel.
>> I bemoaned being poorly in Pasadena.
>> And I started to think Mulder was right with the whole trust no-one thing.
>> Oh and then I moaned a bit more about my laryngitis, with a gory throat pic.
Meanwhile, over at ivillage …
The funny stuff
>> This was my favourite meme.

The stuff that made me think

And the stuff that made me drool …

>> Last, but not least, ever heard of s’mores? They’re an American campfire tradition – toasted marshmallows sandwiched with chocolate and biscuits – that I’ve been dying to try. This recipe gallery has given me lots of mouth-watering inspiration >> http://bit.ly/13po8Ro
