Bad things come in … fours?

HollywoodPostcard
OK, so Husband had an operation that put him out of action for 10 days last month. Then the bunny ate all our electrical appliances (Husband discovered a belated fatality yesterday – the oil heater in the youngest’s room.) Then Husband’s grandfather died and we motored out to Forbes for the terribly sad funeral. Then I tore all the ligaments from my sacrum while doing battle with some brush turkeys …

But fortunately Husband had some leftover Endone he could pass on … shhhhhh …

I swear, when I was telling a friend about it yesterday it sounded like some bizarre soap opera. But it really happened. And I’m wondering: does it mean all our bad luck has been wiped out for the foreseeable future? On the other hand, I thought things were supposed to come in threes, but we’ve had four, so please don’t tell me there are another two waiting to pounce to make it an even six.

One of them might be a divorce if I’m not careful. Husband keeps threatening that my secondary pets and their associated hassles might be the death of our relationship.

I hate to think what the other might be. I’m not sure my feeble 45-year-old body can take it.

Actually, there WAS Husband rear-ending a school mum’s car on his way to collect me for my emergency physio treatment. Maybe that’s it.

But I’m trying to move on and focus on the positive – getting mobile for my trip to Los Angeles next month. (Hey, where did all the sympathy go??? Come baaaack!!!!)

That’s right – I’m going to LA baby!

At least I think I am. I don’t have ticket confirmation yet. And until I have ticket confirmation I ain’t taking anything for granted.

I’m supposed to be going for work – attending the DVD releases of two kids movies. As you do! Work – hah!

I’ll leave on Election Day after voting and dumping (sorry, lovingly depositing) my kids with my sister, then spend Saturday and Sunday shopping. I have a lovely little hotel picked out that’s equally distant from the Beverly Centre and The Grove shopping centre, and a stone’s throw from Melrose Avenue.

Then on the Sunday night I’m off to Pasadena to do a little schmoozing.

Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait!

Please let me be able to walk faster than granny-shuffle pace by then …

Any Los Angeles tips for me? It’s been a while.
