It never fails to amaze me how much can happen in Hollywood in a weekend. The past few days have produced a wedding, protective services removing kids, a failed intervention and Lindsay Lohan finally entering rehab after two aborted attempts. BY ALANA HOUSE
Keira Knightley weds
The actress married her musician boyfriend, James Righton, on Saturday in the town hall of a small French village called Mazan.
“It was not a long service,” one witness told PEOPLE magazine, “and very few people.” The ceremony was performed by the village mayor and “occurred just before noon and lasted only about 30 minutes. Keira looked beautiful. She wore a very pretty, very elegant dress.”
In keeping with the casual theme, Keira wore a knee-length strapless tulle dress, nude flats and a crown of daisies.
There’s even been speculation the dress was recycled. It resembles a Rodarte gown which she wore to a pre-Bafta Awards party in 2008.
Mazan was chosen because Keira owns a wine-growing farm there, where a reception tent was erected for an afternoon garden lunch after the ceremony. Thirty to 50 guests attended and later in the evening there was a party where James’ band, The Klaxons, performed.
Kylie relives cancer heartache
Kylie Minogue has been awarded the EIF Women’s Cancer Research Fund’s 2013 Courage Award.
Kylie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and media coverage of her battle created “The Kylie Effect” – an unprecedented increase in bookings for breast screening due to the awareness caused.
Kylie told the assembled crowd, including Chelsea Handler and Lisa Kudrow: “When there is a diagnosis, it’s fair to say that it rocks your world. So much so that I don’t like to take myself back to thinking about that time. … and I was reminded about how much courage was around me at the time when I needed it. … Courage from my parents, my brother, sister, boyfriend [she was dating Olivier Martinez at the time], friends, fans, and any courage that I displayed was aided because of their strength and belief and support.”
But she admitted prior to her speech that she almost turned the award down: “To be perfectly honest, when they first asked me about it, I wasn’t really sure if I could do it because one doesn’t like to relive a lot of those memories. But the work that they do is fantastic, and any help that we can offer people who are currently suffering, or who sadly, will be diagnosed in the future, it’s really important.”
Charlie’s twins removed from his ex
Charlie Sheen‘s twin sons have been removed from his ex-wife Brooke Mueller‘s care again by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
Radar Online reports that the 4-year-olds, Bob and Max, were taken away due to an “unsafe environment” caused by her ongoing alleged drug use.
Her rep says: “We’re not making any comments on this right now.”
But a source reveals to US Weekly: “The boys will reportedly go into the care of Sheen’s ex-wife [Denise] Richards. “Brooke is really not in good shape at all. She is not opposed to Denise having the kids — that’s her first choice.”
A custody hearing has been set for next week.

Lindsay finally in lockdown
Lindsay Lohan has narrowly avoided jail time for probation violation after she checked out of Morningside Recovery Centre only a few minutes after checking in.
Morningside had been revealed to not be licenced to perform residential drug or alcohol rehab treatment. She checked in there after deciding not to attend the court-approved centre, Seafield, because it wouldn’t allow her to smoke.
Santa Monica Chief Deputy City Attorney Terry White has confirmed to the The Associated Press that Lindsay has checked into an approved rehab facility, the Betty Ford Center in California, where she has spent time previously.
“She felt Morningside was not suitable for her,” a source told Us Weekly. “There were too many paparazzi everywhere and she didn’t feel safe. Nobody close to her is happy about this. They think she’s really not being smart.”
I wonder how many outfits Betty Ford allows?
Lindsay’s drug interview
Meanwhile, pre-rehab, Lindsay Lohan sat down with Piers Morgan for an interview in the Daily Mail, discussing her history with drugs and alcohol.
She confessed to having her first drink when she was 17 and not liking it because “I got really sick and Mum made me sleep with vomit still on me so I’d understand how it felt. I didn’t drink again throughout high school. I was too scared!”
She says she started to go off the rails when she moved to Los Angeles in her late teens: “I got arrested for my first DUI when I was 20 and they found me with drugs. And from then on the press were on me all the time. It was the first time I’d taken drugs; I was out in a club with people I shouldn’t have been with, and took cocaine, and got in the car. It was so stupid.”
She insists she’s only done cocaine “maybe four or five times in my life” because she doesn’t like it, as it reminds her of her father who was addicted to it when she was growing up. “I took it four times in a period from about the age of 20 to 23, and I got caught twice.”
Unlucky, huh?
When asked what other drugs she’s tried, Lindsay says: “Pot, obviously. And ecstasy. I liked that better than the others (giggles). I didn’t drink on it, so I was just chilling. It’s something that a lot of people experience when they’re in college. I just should have known that being in the public eye, someone was bound to say something or try to make some money off it.”
As for alcohol, she says she doesn’t have much of it either: “Not really. I’ve never been a huge drinker. I’ve never woken up in the morning and had a drink.”
So she doesn’t think she need to be in rehab, saying it’s just “killing time”.
What does she confess to taking/drinking? “I have severe ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). I can’t stand still. So I take Adderall (a prescription drug) for that, it calms me … Trazodone (a tranquilliser) if I’ve been travelling and can’t sleep from jet lag. But in small doses, I’m not a pill-popper … I don’t drink every day. Heath Ledger (who died from a prescription drugs overdose in 2008) told me to give it up for a year because he’d just done that, and so I did and it wasn’t a problem for me. I didn’t miss it, I felt good.”
But TMZ has asked its readers to vote “truth teller” or “pants on fire”.
Mother-daughter advice from Cher
Cher‘s 86-year-old mum, Georgia Holt, is the subject of a one-hour Mother’s Day special airing in the US called Dear Mom, Love Cher.
And Cher has admitted she’s never received a single word of advice from her mum: “Instead, we learned about life by listening to her talk about the things she did wrong and the things she did right.”
But now the tables have turned and Cher’s setting the rules! “I won’t allow her on Twitter,” she admits. “I have no filter, and neither does she!”
Jackson intervention revelation
It’s been revealed in court that the Jackson family tried drug interventions for Michael Jackson, believing he was addicted to painkillers.
As part of a testimony during Katherine Jackson’s suit for negligence in the star’s death by concert promoter AEG Live LLC, Detective Orlando Martinez revealed: “Mrs Jackson said the family tried to help him but he would have nothing to do with it. She had asked Michael if he was taking any drugs, and he denied it.”
“The family attempted several interventions,” he added. “She [Katherine] had talked to her son about drugs herself.”
Failed intervention for Amanda
How crazy does a celebrity have to act before somebody calls the police? Amanda Bynes found out on Wednesday, when a friend called 911 over her increasingly bizarre behavior. Publicist Jonathan Jaxsonsays he turned to the NYPD after having a scary phone conversation with the former teen star.
“Amanda had called me and we had a private conversation, but it was clear to me that she was high on drugs,” Jaxson told Radar Online. “Then, she said that she didn’t want to live anymore. I took that as that she wanted to kill herself. I freaked out.”
There’s a lot of freaking out happening over Amanda Bynes these days. By all evidence, the 27-year-old actress is in the middle of a meltdown, and in a state of deep denial. Here’s a list of what she’s done in the past two weeks alone (as documented on Twitter):
– Posted semi-nude pictures of herself.
– Posted actual nude pictures of herself (above).
– Announced, not long after confessing an eating disorder, that she “needs” to weigh 100 pounds.
– Got into a fight with Jenny McCarthy. (More on that in a moment.)
– Told InTouch that anyone who criticizes her is ugly, so it doesn’t count. “I only have hot friends,” she explained.
Okay, so back to Jonathan Jaxson for a moment. When the publicist called the police, the NYPD said they couldn’t help if they didn’t know where Amanda was located. “Amanda has been changing her number weekly,” Jaxson wrote on Twitter, “in addition to hotel hopping and gym hopping.” He says that desperation is the reason he sent out this tweet: “I just spoke to @AmandaBynes and she is soooo messed up on drugs and please @NY_POLICE find her and help her! I don’t know her address! @TMZ
Reports claimed police found Bynes and that she was fine. However, the Deputy Chief of Public Information of NYC told Hollyscoop that “there is no 911 call to the apartment of Amanda Bynes and there is no police record of any of our officers having to go there.” But that didn’t prevent Jenny McCarthy from getting involved. (Told you we were getting there.)
“Police are at Amanda Bynes’ house. I hope they get her help,” the TV host tweeted. “Enough of this circus. She needs help. It came from a publicist but if no one can back it up it could be wrong.”
McCarthy had clearly misread Jaxson’s message, believing that the police were already at Bynes’ home. (Not the first time she’s been wrong… ahem.) In response, Amanda went offon Jenny, in a series of tweets that have now been deleted.
“I need help? What are u talking about? Aren’t u 50 years old? I’m 27, u look 80 compared to me!” Bynes wrote. “Why are you talking about me? you’re ugly! Police weren’t at my house old lady! Shut the f**k up!”
When McCarthy gave a dignified response (“Sorry girl. Looking out for ya.”), Amanda did a complete 180.
“@JennyMcCarthy thanks! I’m sorry I offended you!” she tweeted. “You’re beautiful! I was lying! I’ll delete our tweets!”
Long story short: Things looked bad for Amanda before. They look worse now. Jaxson’s intervention didn’t do much, and his motives are being called into question; this is the same guy who made headlines by claiming that Kim Kardashian‘s wedding was staged. Bynes’ parents appear to be MIA. The media has begun to call for a guardianship, like the one that saved Britney Spears. But who will step in? Someone needs to get through to Amanda Bynes, by some other means than Twitter.
Kevin rescues Boston
Kevin Spacey has adopted a puppy from the pound and shared adorable photographs of them bonding on Twitter. He captioned the shots: “New member of the family. Her name is Boston in honor of the city.”
Kevin has visited victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy and told the Boston Herald he “had to get on a plane” after the lockdown was lifted to visit the city. “I’m not a doctor or first responder, but if people know me from movies, and walking into their work space or room brings a smile to their face – with the challenges these amazing citizens have in front of them – then that’s worth coming.”
Bradley mocks his ex
The Hangover star Zach Galifianakis has hosted Saturday Night Live and took along his co-stars Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms for a Jennifer Aniston look-alike contest.
The trio wore skirts and blonde wigs for the contest, which was judged by actor Jason Sudekis.
When his co-stars won, Zach grouched: “Who did their makeup? Helen Keller?”
Bradley retorted: “You know something? You’re a real jerk. You may look exactly like Jennifer Aniston on the outside, but on the inside, you’re a total Helen Keller. That’s why you got eighth place.”
Bradley briefly dated Jennifer back in 2009. Wonder what she thinks of the competition?
