HouseGoesHollywood: Catherine Zeta Jones back in rehab for bipolar

It’s all about the mummies today as Pink reveals her worst day, Shakira reveals her biggest parenting shock and Kim Kardashian does good (really!).

Pink reveals: “The worst day of my life”

pink-2-300

Pink has revealed the “worst day” of her life to Glamour magazine: when her 23-month-old daughter Willow got concussion.

“Willow and I were at the pool and I was taking her to nap time. She was walking just a foot in front of me, and she trips and falls and gets a concussion,” Pink tells the magazine. “She passed out. Cut to an ambulance and fire truck and a CAT scan. “

She tries to be philosophical about it now: “And what do they say? ‘Kids fall.’ Welcome to parenthood … I thought, I can’t handle this. I’m fitting her for a bubble.”

“Every time she bounces on the bed, I see stitches. Being a parent is a Jedi mind f—. It’s also the raddest thing ever.”

Another parenting moment she reveals:  “Willow said, ‘F—–’ hi,’ the other day. I’m like, ‘F—!’” she admits. “We’re gonna get a [cuss] jar. Have to.”

Ireland battles the “haters”

Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger‘s teenaged daughter Ireland Baldwin has taken her Tumblr “haters” on. And good on her!

“Of course I get those comments about how I am too fat to model, how I am not model material, how I am an unattractive girl, how I am too tall, etc … I understand that I am not a size .008. What I don’t fully understand is: What is the good in commenting on a photo of a 17-year-old girl and calling her fat, ugly, etc.?” she asks in the post. “Is that helping you in some way? … Personally, I try to see the beauty in everyone. … I even see the beauty in the people who send me hateful replies!

It’s particularly concerning when the comments have been directed at a girl who has admitted to an eating disorder and self-esteem issues in the past but is trying to beat them with by dedicating herself to a healthy lifestyle.

She also says it’s unfair to compare her to her mother: “My mom is one of the most beautiful women in the world,” she writes, “Let’s not forget, I also have a Dad too, so genetically speaking, I wasn’t built to look like my Mom’s identical twin!”

I worry about the world sometimes, when people think it’s appropriate to destroy anyone’s self-confidence – let alone a teenage girl’s – via social media.

Shakira’s biggest motherhood shock

shakira-baby

New mum Shakira has confessed her biggest parenting shock: changing nappies.

“I didn’t expect babies to need so many diapers,” she told PEOPLE magazine. “Nobody told me they needed to be changed so often.”

Fortunately boyfriend Gerard Piqué. has been sharing the load: “He’s been amazing. The baby spends as much time with me as he does with his dad. He’s the kind of dad who is full hands-on. He changes diapers; he enjoys bathing him. That’s a real help for me.”

As for motherhood generally, it’s going just fine: “It takes a lot of energy from you. But I love it. I’m really enjoying every bit of it. It’s not as idyllic as everybody tells you — but not as horrible as everybody tells you.”

Fortunately, three-month-old Milan is a relatively easy baby who takes after his mum in his love of music: “When he’s crying or gets a little irritated, I play him music and he stops crying. I play a little bit of everything. I play a little bit of rock and roll, some Latin music as well, so he gets acquainted with the music that I grew up listening to when I was back in the day living in Colombia. So apparently he’s going to like music.”

Kim refuses baby gifts

Good on Kim Kardashian (I never thought I’d say those words). She’s chosen not to have a baby register after all and is asking friends, family, and fans to donate money to the Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago instead.

Chicago is where partner Kanye West grew up and a rep for the hospital told TMZ the money raised would be used to treat sick babies.

“Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West for their thoughtfulness and support of the hospital,” the rep said in a statement. “Funds donated on behalf of Kardashian and West will be directed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Fund, which will help care for the most critically ill babies and their families.”

Catherine checks in for biopolar treatment

catherine-zeta-jones

Catherine Zeta-Jones has returned to a treatment facility for her bipolar II disorder.

She checked in on Monday and is expected to complete a 30-day program.

“Catherine has proactively checked into a health care facility,” said her rep, Cece Yorke. “Previously Catherine has said that she is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner.”

Catherine has always been open about her bipolar II disorder and spent 30 days in a rehab facility treating it in 2011.

“It’s not easy. I’m not the kind of person who likes to shout out my personal issues from the rooftops, but with my bipolar becoming public, I hope fellow sufferers will know it’s completely controllable,” she told InStyle magazine’s December 2012 issue. “I hope I can help remove any stigma attached to it, and that those who don’t have it under control will seek help with all that is available to treat it.”

Chelsea: why I don’t want kids

chelsea-handler

Comedian and talk show host Chelsea Handler has admitted during an episode of The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet that her body clock isn’t ticking and never will.

“I definitely don’t want to have kids,” she said. “I don’t think I’d be a great mother. I don’t want to have a kid and have it raised by a nanny. I don’t have the time to raise a child.

“Childhood was heartbreaking enough for anybody. I don’t know that I could handle my own child, especially if I had a girl, going through what I went through growing up. Not that it was so traumatic, but in many ways, it was in your own way.”

Sofia’s surrogacy plans

Sofia-Vergara-Cosmopolitan-June-2013

Sofia Vergara has discussed her plans for having another baby – 19 years after her first, Manolo – with Cosmopolitan magazine. Rumours have been swirling that she plans to use a surrogate and she confirms they’re true.

“I had to go to my doctor’s office a hundred million times to do injections,” the 40-year-old actress says. “The [rumor] probably came from that. My doctor had told me ‘We have a small window.’ I said, ‘That’s so rude!’ I already have a kid, so I never thought I would need to do that.

“But I will have to use a surrogate, because I had thyroid cancer and lots of radiation. I don’t want to wait forever, but not yet, because I’m working like an animal.”
