Househunting: Warrawee charmer

Many moons ago, Husband and I went on wine-tasting holidays. One memorable trip we visited the Barossa Valley, Eden Valley, Maclaren Vale, Coonawarra and Rutherglen, jamming 10 cases of wine into the boot of my Mazda 121 along the way. Ah, those were the halcyon, carefree, pre-children days. We’ve tried taking the Sprogs along on wine tasting trips more recently, but they just whinge about being bored. What’s with that?

During our big wine odyssey, we stayed at an adorable cottage in the Barossa called Norma’s Place. It was a cute miner’s cottage with a rambling herb patch out the back. We fell totally in love with it.

When I spotted this place on Domain, it brought all the wonderful memories flooding back. Sure, the house is tiny and completely impractical for a family of four, but that doesn’t stop me wanting it BAD. I think I’d connect the original house to the studio to expand the floorspace. It has such a lovely feel to it. Living there would be like escaping Sydney while (almost) still living in it.

  1. I am a Northern Beaches girl who moved to South Australia for six years. I loved living there and the prices of houses provide a great incentive to return. It has gorgeous kid-friendly beaches, farmers markets, great festivals and access to many of the things you’d do in Sydney. I loved living on the Northern beaches, but i didn’t want the huge mortgage and stressful lifestyle that would’ve gone with it.

We are in Canberra now, but we see this as only temporary.
