The Sprogs love nothing more than visiting their cousins. A cousin’s birthday? Pretty close to nirvana.
Yesterday Cousin Tessie had a party. In the lead-up to Halloween, we discovered a tool on http://www.picmonkey.com that turned photos into ZOMBIE PHOTOS. So we turned Cousin Tessie into one for her birthday card. We were quite thrilled with the results.
Our gift to Cousin Tessie was a Dalek lunchbag and a Dalek torch/keyring. Very well received.
The party was delightfully low-stress – no games, just a blow-up slide, a pool, water pistols, water bombs and lots of high-pitched screaming.
There was eyeball punch too. “Pop Bert’s secret recipe” which my sister-in-law refused to share because “it’s Pop Bert’s secret recipe”. But I saw lots of ginger beer, lemonade and something that looked suspiciously like tea Being poured into the punch bowl …
Husband texted me at one point (ah, the joys of modern technology, he was about 20 metres away) to inform me that Sprog 1 had finally found her tribe – a gang of geeky, ginger 12-year-olds. Naturally.
Tessie’s talented sister Phoebe came up with the birthday cake idea, below. Cool huh? (She’s about to launch her own chook adoration/baking blog site – a girl after my own heart.)
It was a slow day on my blog, so I got bored with watching my stats stagnate and took to Google in search of Christmas gifts for the Sprogs. Sprog 2 has decided she wants a doll that talks for Christmas. Oh my, the things I discovered … more about that tomorrow …
It was one of those parties where the parents come to collect the kids and end up staying for hours, chatting, nibbling on cheese platters and drinking champagne … mmmmmm!
A bulk fun time was had by all.
How’s your weekend going?

How awesome does that party look! Everything from the card, to the pressies, to the fun, to the cake – and, hello, the champagne at the end! We’ve finally got blue skies here today so I’m off to the Farmer’s Market. Apparently they have fresh duck today so I’m going to attempt Duck a’la blood orange for dinner tonight. Wish me luck.
Oooh, a’la blood orange … I like!
