Put this on your must-visit list

I took my sister to the relaunch of Harper Rooftop Bar at the Kimpton Margot Sydney last night and it was glorious.

It felt like we were drinking bubbles in New York, against a backdrop of the city’s skyscrapers.

Kimpton Margot Sydney is housed in a heritage-listed Art Deco building on Pitt and Bathurst Streets that originally opened in 1939 as the headquarters for the Sydney Water Board.

It is a dead-set gorgeous hotel. A jazz trio were playing as we walking into the stunning lobby. We were dazzled.

Then we caught the lift to the Harper Rooftop Bar, which is a seasonal venue that’s returning for the spring-summer season, with DJs, frozen piña coladas, a dedicated daiquiri bar and alfresco-style snacks.

We were there for the launch party, featuring ARIA award-winner Kaiit, who performed a sunset set ahead of taking the stage as main support act for Olivia Dean’s Australian and New Zealand tour. (I apologise for the terrible photo, I have no idea why my phone gave Kaiit a five o’clock shadow.)

The menu is designed to pair with a new list of sun-forward wines and cocktails, including piña coladas slushies, frosé, frozen boozy sorbet pops and custom creations from a dedicated daiquiri bar.

We tried the Cosmopolitan pops, which would be such a refreshing treat on a hot summer afternoon. We also sipped lychee Margaritas, which were lovely, and Mumm bubbles from NZ’s Marlborough region.

The nibbles we sampled were absolutely delicious. Highlights included pork belly tacos, Peking duck rolls and cauliflower bites.

Love every minute of it.

As we enjoyed our rooftop cocktails, DD was up at dawn in Mexico City to go ballooning over the Teotihuacan pyramids. Exotic! I am looking forward to seeing his happy snaps.

He’s also been doing his own sunset sipping at a rooftop bar called Supra Roma …

Pssst … our way home I may have gone tipsy shopping at Zara in Pitt Street Mall. Don’t tell anyone …

Have an awesome weekend.
