Moving pictures

I don’t know where my weekend went. I did very little, but it was over in a flash.

My ex spent his entire weekend moving the youngest out of her share house and into her new solo accommodation.

The new place is very compact, so my garage is now crammed with everything that wouldn’t fit into it.

The youngest and my ex arrived at around 5pm on Sunday arvo and ferried all the crap into the garage, which is thankfully very long.

(Unfortunately, it’s not very water tight, so fingers crossed it doesn’t flood.)

I bought the youngest some tea towels as a housewarming gift – in addition to her IKeA haul – and forgot to give them to her before she took the trailer back to the hire place. Damn.

The brown package behind the tea towels contains a little pot of wasabi and caramel spread that I will tell you more about tomorrow.

Otherwise, all I did over the weekend was go for a couple of walks with friends, grab some groceries, slow roast a lamb shoulder, steam mop the apartment, got my toenails professionally painted and took Charlie the moodle to the vet for his annual vaccination.

Charlie is normally very compliant, but he went absolutely bonkers in the surgery and ended up getting a needle gash in his back due to thrashing about so much.

The vet said he might need to be sedated before his next appointment.

I was DD-less for the weekend because he took his kids on a wine region getaway, which included fudge tasting, wine and cheese tasting and a breakfast of brisket eggs benny. Diet starts tomorrow.

The lamb dish I made was very yummy. I served the shoulder with baked eggplant and a pilaf of brown rice, lemon juice, olives, pomegranate seeds, currants, coriander and mint. I’m trying to avoid onions, garlic, lactose and gluten to see if I can sort out my gut issues.

That said, I’ve been stalked by a receptionist at a gastroenterology clinic. My doctor suggested I see a specialist, wrote me a prescription and emailed it to the clinic. First thing the next morning they called and asked if I was available the following day.

I completely panic when I’m put on the spot about appointments and my brain stops working, so I said I’d have to get back to her. Also, what specialist has appointments available the next day?

She called a week later and hassled me again. I’m a bit suss about it all, but I’ve been bullied into an appointment on Wednesday. There goes another fat wad of cash.

Hello Monday, I’m not happy to see you. Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to work I go.
