Please shut up!

So, how was my 58th birthday?

My sister bought me a strong flat white at dawn, after we walked the dogs.

The fire inspection went well.

DD popped in and gave me a birthday hug on his way to the airport.

The dogs did a lot of staring at me over the arm of the sofa, willing me to feed or walk them more.

I spent a harrowing hour between 5-6pm making online corrections to funding guidelines that needed to be live overnight.

At 6pm there was a special meeting of the owners of our apartment block to approve opting into Part 10 of the Strata Schemes Development Act 2015.

That’s a bit of a mouthful, but it’s the first step towards achieving a collective sale or redevelopment of an apartment block.

My block is located in an area that has been rezoned to allow for higher density development. It’s currently three storeys high but could go up to six.

I decided opting into Part 10 was a good idea, just in case a developer with deep pockets comes along.

The executive committee agreed to a special meeting to vote on opting in … then the tangerine tyrant started a war and screwed interest rates.

But Part 10 might still come in handy at some point, so we persevered.

I may have talked too much in the meeting. I may have wanted to vomit with panic afterwards about all the talking I did and whether I said the right or wrong things.

Why am I so incapable of shutting up?

I thought it was weird that the Chair didn’t say a word, as he was super keen on opting in, but it turns out he was accidentally on mute the whole time and wondered why no one was listening to him.

There were no objections – unless other people were accidentally on mute too – and the motion was passed.

Afterwards I had dinner with my sister – yummy Middle Eastern food and a bottle of BYO Peterson’s Chardy! My favourite! Such a nice way to end the day.

Thank you to everyone who sent lovely messages. I’ve been very spoilt.

Song of the day: No Doubt “Don’t speak”
