I went to the beach twice yesterday. Lucky me!
I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence, but I felt much calmer than I have for ages.
My first trip to the ocean was at the crack of dawn. I woke before 6am and raced up to see the sunrise at Avalon headland with the doggos.
I’m very pleased with a shot I took at the beach a few minutes later …

So lovely there!
Then I headed back up the hill to grab coffees for myself and sleeping DD and took them back to his place to start my working day.
At lunchtime I pulled on my wetsuit and headed to Bilgola Beach. DD couldn’t join me because he was taking his mum to the dentist. When I got to the beach there were a few surfers but no one swimming in the water.
The waves were dumping close to the shore and I couldn’t tell where the water dropped off into the deep.
I can’t swim very well AT ALL and there were no lifeguards on duty so I decided to be ultra-sensible and just stand in the water up to my calves and left the waves crash around my legs.
Full immersion would have been better therapy, but I loved the feeling of sun and ocean spray on my face.
I wandered along the water’s edge to the ocean pool, rinsed myself under the outdoor shower and headed back to my laptop for an afternoon at the grindstone.
After work I ducked to the supermarket and bought the ingredients for sausages and mash with onion gravy our dinner before loading up for the drive back home.
Sigh, the real world.
A painter is coming at 7.30am to discuss solutions for my water damaged ceiling, which has been flaking paint for months since the roof was repaired. Then I’ll head to the city for one of my three requisite days in the office.
I’m not a city person these days. It’s weird, I used to love city life so much. New York and Honolulu were holiday heaven to me.
Last night DD and I watched travel porn after dinner on YouTube: Aitutaki and the Solomon Islands. Stunning! And VERY remote.
We’ll get there one day.
Song of the day: Karma County “This is not the real world”
Ah Aitutaki! I can recommend! My honeymoon destination 20 years ago. Amazing lagoon, we kayaked from our resort’s beach to another beach, parked on the sand and walked into a bar with a sand floor. So good!
Fingers crossed I get there one day
I hope you do Alana.
