Monday is not the night you’d expect to be busy, but mine was hectic.
I started work at 8am and powered through without a lunch break so I could skive off at 4.30pm and head to The Rocks to have a drink with some of the Newie gang. They were in town to see Strictly Baz Luhrmann, a celebration of the music from the iconic Australian director’s career.
Musical theatre stars Alinta Chidzey, Tim Draxl, Ryan Gonzalez and Phoebe Panaretos sang under the sails of the Sydney Opera House, alongside the Opera Australia Orchestra.
They performed songs from Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge!, as well as Australia, The Great Gatsby and Elvis.
I missed out on a ticket to this magical event; so I parted ways with my lucky friends at Circular Quay and went to a Ponant information night instead.
DD decided not to attend due to not having any annual leave available until we retire.
The Ponant information night was a little magical in its own right, with lots of fabulous videos and Champagne and amazing itineraries highlighted on the big screen.
I love Ponant’s guest speakers and last night’s didn’t disappoint – a 30-year veteran guide discussed her favourite moments in Europe and how badly she wishes she was going on this cruise …

Lech Walesa as the guest speaker! Can you imagine?

Plus cruising the Baltic Sea to picturesque places like Visby at the same time.
Tahiti also looks nice …

It has been a heavenly 24 hours for the doggos too, with one of the Newie friends staying at my place on Sunday night. She provided a warm lap yesterday morning for my sooky fur babies, who were very sad to see her leave …

I’m heading back into the city today for work, where one of my favourite directors has just announced she’s going on 12 months annual leave.
How. Good. Would. That. Be?
Tonight HouseGoesHotel is hosting my sister. It’s an all-inclusive visit – I’m cooking steak with sweet potato fries and blue cheese sauce.
Song of the day: Moulin Rouge “Smells like teen spirit” (one of my all-time favourite screen moments)
