Sydney’s Indian summer weather is so weird. One day you’re wearing a t-shirt, the next you’ve cracked out a hoodie and ugg boots.
It’s like the universe is indulging the human whim that it’s officially autumn on May 1.
Brrrrrrr. Bring back summer, I’m not ready for it to end.
Fortunately I was invited to a warming Morris of Rutherglen whisky and wine event at Grana last night with my friends from The Whisky List. I have so many fond memories of Rutherglen as it’s near my ex-parents-in-law, so many happy lunches and wine tastings were enjoyed there during my marriage.

Darren Peck (Head Distiller) and Madden Morris (Chief Winemaker and 6th generation Morris family) were in Sydney to host the event and talk us through each whisky and wine, which was awesome as I love a drinks gathering with storytelling at its heart.
I was also seated next to the most lovely 92-year-old who’d been invited along by her whisky-loving daughter and son.
She was delightful, I hope that if I make it to my 90s I’m like her. She was so engaged and excited to get whisky tasting tips from me (opening your mouth slightly while smelling the whisky is my number one tip).
We also helped choose the next Morris Whisky special bottling. There were three casks to vote on – I loved the American oak barrel one, which had the most incredible caramel and vanilla nose, but there were more votes for the durif one, which I also support as I reckon the world needs to taste its first durif barrel-matured whisky.
Here are some snaps from the night:

Then it was time to walk the wet streets to Wynyard and catch a bus home.
I ran out of time to buy lottery tickets yesterday so I can purchase my dream house in Palm Beach …

My mouth literally dropped open when I saw the place. It is fabulous! So fabulous that it features cocktail bars on both its levels.
Admittedly they’ve gone a bit rogue with all the crazy wallpaper, green carpet and hot pink kitchen, but those things can be fixed … generally I adore it.

This is what the agent had to say:
“Step into an extraordinary beachfront haven in the heart of Palm Beach, where luxury and coastal living converge. This meticulously renovated property transcends the ordinary, offering an unparalleled retreat for those seeking a unique and unforgettable experience.
“Nestled on one of Palm Beach’s most sought-after streets, this residence exudes boldness and vibrancy, setting the stage for a lifestyle that embraces the finest aspects of beachfront living.
“Every inch of this property has been thoughtfully curated, featuring vibrant Mid-Century Palm Springs decor and impeccable styling that transforms each space into a dreamlike setting. More than just a residence, it is a statement-a testament to luxury living by the beach.
“Entertainment is at the forefront with two bars, including an upscale upstairs bar fully equipped with its own keg-a haven for aficionados of mixology. The bedrooms are a symphony of personalized design, ensuring each guest enjoys a unique and immersive stay.
“Culinary enthusiasts will delight in the well-equipped kitchen, featuring two ovens and a butler’s pantry for added convenience. Multiple entertaining areas, including a covered outdoor seating space with Sonos surround sound, set the stage for unforgettable gatherings.
“For a touch of whimsy, experience a playful descent down the outdoor slide-a distinctive feature that adds excitement to this exceptional property. It’s more than just a residence; it’s a lifestyle that invites you to savor every moment.”
Yeah, baby, I’m there for it! I just need a spare $10 million or so … Check it out here.
Have a great weekend. Catch you next week.
