I bought two black bar stools from Kmart yesterday.
You are up to date with the highlights from my weekend.
OK, I did a couple of other things.
I went to see Alex Lloyd at Avalon RSL on Saturday night. He’s famous for a song called “You were amazing”.
The gig started at 10pm.
That is waaaaaaaaaay too late for me.
We were almost comatose from exhaustion by the time he played his most famous song.
Like us, Alex is no spring chicken. Google tells me he’s 50 with four kids. He should know better.
Give me 6.30pm Simple Minds gig any day. While Alex does have the voice of an angel, I can’t hack nights that late unless there’s dancing involved to distract me from the fatigue.
Alex doesn’t do dance music, it’s more a gently swaying vibe.
The next morning we wearily wandered down to Bilgola Beach for a swim – the water was so gloriously warm – followed by brekkie burgers at the beachside cafe Zubi. Their brekkie burgers have pickles on them. Oh, how I love pickles on burgers, even brekkie ones.
DD had forgotten his favourite team, the Rabbitohs, were playing a match in Las Vegas on Sunday afternoon.
The bizarre concept dreamed up by the NRL was billed to bemused Americans as “a sport with no pads, no helmets and no fears”.
DD tried to pretend he was A-OK to miss the match and sit around talking to me about cruises instead, but I could sense he really wanted to go to a mate’s place who was hosting a viewing party.
As we were both knackered and not really offering the finest conversation, I headed home early to leave him to it, despite initially intending to stay Sunday night.
Which is how I ended up at Kmart buying bar stools.
Following the purchase I am now officially super excited by how good my apartment is looking. I think is finally ready for viewing!
I am not, however, ready to view Monday. How did that roll around so fast?
You will not be surprised to hear I have a big week in store.
Brace yourselves …
Oh and as for what Americans thought of the NRL …
It drew a crowd of 40,746, a sports blogger called it “human cockfighting” and there was a punch up in the stands.
Commentators are hailing it a big success.
Sadly the Bunnies lost, poor DD.
