Remember the time?

I’m baaaaack! I’ve been on an adventure that stretches from Newcastle to … spoiler alert … Ningaloo!

It’s been a blast, without a single bout of stress-related dermatitis in my ears during the whole trip. I think my body is trying to tell me something about my life.

Anyhoo, I’ll leave the navel gazing for another day.

I’ve decided to spend this week recounting what I’ve been up to since I last blogged, in chronological order, even though it feels like most of it happened 500 years ago.

My adventure kicked off on November 19. Here’s where I headed first …

Every five years or so my year 7 crew get back together: Megan D, Megan E, Katherine B and me.

Or is it I?

This time around the youngest agreed to shoot up the highway with me so she could see her Nonna and Pop afterwards.

It was bit of an ask for a teenager because it meant leaving home at 7am to get to Warner’s Bay for brekkie.

When I suggested she check out the local markets while we ate, she asked if she wasn’t welcome at breakfast. I said I thought she might be bored.

Her reply: “No, I will be fine, I’m good with old people.”

She was referring to my high school friends.

Old people! The nerve!

Megan D had teased there would be a mystery guest at the reunion and when we arrived I stared blankly at the stranger sitting there.

She didn’t look like anyone I went to school with, mind you I have a terrible memory for both names and faces.

But then she started speaking and I realised it was my German teacher, Lyn Prince. How’s that for a blast from the past? We decided it had been 35-40 years since we’d seen each other. Blimey!

The reunion was sparked by Megan E’s upcoming move to Canberra. It spurred us into action and it was lovely to catch up.

We all lead very intense lives in our own separate ways – who knew being in our 50s would be such a wild ride?

Hopefully it’s not another five years until we gather again.

PS And a big shout out to DD for minding the dogs for the past nine days. Thank you!

  1. Always gr8 to catch up! Maybe plan a combined 60th trip to Canberra to Megan’s?
Gota shout out to Table 1 Espresso at Warner’s Bay for amazing food & service, who manage to feed me with all my intolerances with absolutely no reaction.
