I apologise for HouseGoesHome deteriorating into endless blog posts about alcohol functions.
I reckon the least people EVER … well, in recent memory … clicked on yesterday’s post about the NSW Wine Awards.
However, as my life is either tapping at the computer, going to expensive medical appointments with my children or being invited to alcohol events, there’s not much else to write about.
And last night involved … you guessed it … an alcohol event.
DD tends to skip booze functions these days because its a long way for him to travel and they can vary in their attention to detail in important areas such as feeding people.
But I knew he’d be super keen to go to the Sydney launch of Master’s Keep Voyage, which is part of the Wild Turkey family.
Especially when I told him that Master Distiller Eddie Russell and his son Bruce were going to be there.
DD has very fond memories of attending the launch of Master’s Keep Revival in 2019. The main picture on today’s blog post was taken at the event. We looked so young back then. A lot has happened during the COVID years …
I was supposed to bring my dad to that event as my plus one because it was celebrating “the family legacy of Master Distillers, Jimmy and Eddie Russell”.
The invitation said: “Like the Russells, family is important to us and we’d love for you to extend an invitation to this event with your own dad (or family figure). You’ll both be treated to a taste of Master’s Keep Revival alongside a dinner menu that is inspired by the bold flavours of the new premium blend.
“Special guest, Chef Andy Allen of Three Blue Ducks will be there to talk about the power of family and revival in his journey as a chef.”
My dad wasn’t up for going to bourbon events in Sydney, so I asked the PR if I could bring along someone who’s old enough to be her dad and she said sure!
And that’s how DD and I ended up at The Rocks Room – the private dining room at Sake restaurant – drinking fancy spirits.
DD’s succinct verdict: “Very nice.”
He was also stoked not to be the oldest person in the room for once, as quite a few of the young folk had brought a parent along.

We were seated across from the guests of honour, former Masterchef winner Andy and his dad. They’re from Maitland, so DD had a lovely time chitter chattering with them.
Apparently Andy’s dad gave him the advice of “don’t cry on TV” before he went on Masterchef, which is how he got the nickname of being the contestant with no soul.
Anyhoo, the launch of the latest Master’s Keep – Voyage – was held last night at Bar M in Darlinghurst.
It was a fabulous space with soaring ceilings and delicious Old Fashioneds. I love Old Fashioneds so I was in heaven.

We scoffed lots of yummy nibbles as well, then Eddie and Bruce led us through a tasting of three Wild Turkey whiskies.
The new Master’s Keep, which has been aged in Appleton Estate rum barrels, was the stand out – sweet and smooth.
As it was a huge event, there were no bottles to take home. But we did get two very nice lead crystal whiskey glasses.

There was also a bloke hand blowing glasses, which was very impressive to watch.
And there was a band performing on top of the bar, as you do …

Oh, and a pregnant woman was rubbing her baby daddy’s crotch in front of us … I didn’t take photos of that.
And I touched Eddie Russell on the way out … #goals …
He said “Thanks for coming y’all!”
I will leave the rest of it to photo journalism …

Warning: I am rinsing and repeating tonight. Please don’t give up on me.
Song of the day: Paul Kelly “Darling it hurts”
Let the spirits and words flow. This is a barrel full of fun.
I like reading about the alcohol events – keep them coming, it’s about enjoyment!
