Getting ridiculous

I almost don’t want to tell you what I did last night because it’s getting a bit ridiculous.

But my day was mostly filled with miserable stress, which wasn’t much fun. So I’m going to stick with the fun stuff and blather about going to the most incredible bar last night.

I almost cancelled attending the function due to the aforementioned stress, not getting around to finding a plus one and the fact the event being in the city when I was WFH. But the PR kept sending anxious emails and text messages, so I took a deep breath and jumped on a bus into town.

The function was the VIP launch and tasting of Tequila Herradura Legend tequila. Retailing at $300 a bottle, Herradura Legend is aged for a minimum of 14 months, which the media release says gives it a ‘uniquely complex and silky smooth taste of soft caramel, toasted vanilla, oak, and lingering hints of agave’.

The event was held at CIRQ at Crown Sydney in Barangaroo. I can’t believe I’ve never been to the hotel before, it’s very fancy.

CIRQ is on the 26th floor and has the most gobsmacking views of Sydney Harbour.

After sipping on one of my favorite cocktails, a Tommy’s Margarita, we were led through a tasting of three Tequila Herradura expressions, including Legend.

If you’re going to sip any spirit straight, tequila is my top pick. It’s actually very smooth and flavorsome. And because Legend is so fancy it was served in flutes.

Then we had nibbles and a Legend cocktail.

I made my excuses after that and headed home because the youngest was cooking steak again, with another pearl cous cous salad. It was totally delicious, even better than her effort last week.

Then I put together my Drinks Digest weekly newsletter, walked the dogs and tried to sleep.

That didn’t go too well because I am so panicked about work and how far behind I’m running, so I’m going to be spending today in a blurry haze.

Damn I said I wasn’t going to talk about it.

Anyways thanks for hanging in there for the endless bar blather. Next week is fairly drinks function free, which will hopefully make for more interesting reading.

Tonight, however …
