You’re hired!

I’ve put the youngest on the payroll as my housekeeper.

She’s agreed to do the job because she needs pocket money for Schoolies Week, so it’s working out a treat for both of us.

She gets the groceries, cooks dinner (the highlight of this week was steak with a rocket, pesto and roast potato salad, yum!), bakes bread, cleans the kitchen, packs and unpacks the dishwasher, vacuums and is working her way through all the cupboards in the apartment, cleaning and sorting them out.

Glorious!

I just wander home off the bus after work to a home-cooked meal and a clean house. I don’t know myself!

Well, last night I wandered off the bus after finishing work and doing a quick twirl around a trade whisky tasting by my friends at The Whisky List, where I tried my first peated Irish whiskey by Waterford, didn’t mind it!

I also enjoyed this drop, an Islay Single Malt by Whisky Sponge …

And blimey, look at the size of this one …

Hiring my daughter as my housekeeper also gives time to indulge my current cruise obsession. I picked up a river cruising brochure yesterday and was idly flicking through the pages while I waited for my homemade pesto pasta dinner to be served.

I suddenly remembered a friend with similar levels of cynicism as me had been on a river cruise recently and sent her a text asking how it was.

She replied: “Shit!”

And I thought, damn, well I’d better cross that off the list … but I had my wires crossed …

So I’m wondering if I should go on a grand European odyssey from Amsterdam to Bucharest.

Or maybe head to the Rhine for Oktoberfest.

Decisions, decisions …

And now, woo hoo, it’s Friday. My weekend is looking pretty quiet again, which is awesome.

Have a good one. Catch you Monday.

Song of the day: Tina Turner “Rolling on the river”
