Brad Pitt won’t be there

I was invited to celebrate the start of Rosé season – aka Spring – at an event filled with Miraval wine and music last night at RAFI restaurant in North Sydney.

Chateau Miraval is co-owned by Brad Pitt and the vineyard in Provence is famous for being where he married Angelina Jolie and also where Cote de Provence Rosé and STUDIO Rosé are crafted.

It’s also become infamous due to the ugly stoush between Brad and Angelina over it in their divorce proceedings.

She sold her half to Stoli Group instead of him, a move he described as “vindictive” in court papers.

Anyhoo … the name “STUDIO” pays homage to the legendary recording studio on the Miraval estate, where music icons like Pink Floyd, AC/DC, and Sade have unleashed their creativity.

According to the PR blurb, it’s a place where artistry thrives and is reflected in every glass of this exceptional rosé.

I was invited to sample the wine with canapes as the sun set to the sounds of beats from DJ Tay-G.

RAFI happens to be a skip and a jump from where my friend Ania lives, so I asked if she’d like to sip pink wine with me.

I made the mistake of mentioning that I was inviting her to drink Brad Pitt’s rose and panicked that I had over promised, so I hastily added “Sorry, Brad won’t be there”.

Apparently he was invited, but had other plans for his Tuesday night.

It was very fun in spite of Hollywood royalty being a no show. And it turns out Miraval makes delicious pink wine.

I was very wide-eyed about the size of some of the bottles on ice, pictured with Ania’s hand for scale …

Afterwards I power walked to Crows Nest for a drink at Small Bar with my friend Orsola after her dance class. It was Taco Tuesday, which was yummy and cost effective at just $3 per taco.

Fortunately Orsola was driving and gave me a lift home, as my feet were pretty sore by that point.

And now HSC day dawns, which isn’t panning out quite the way I envisaged it. But I will tell that story once the palaver is over.
