I need a Bex

Yesterday was intense. I spent 12 frantic hours being a corporate digital communications manager at the NSW Visitor Economy Forum.

I need a Bex and a good lie down for a week to recover.

It was punishing to walk the dogs around the block at 6am before catching the bus to the ICC Sydney, briefing a photographer and a videographer, churning out LinkedIn posts, frantically taking notes during all the speeches and starting to prep a newsletter on the event that will go out today around lunchtime … if all the final pieces of the puzzle fall into place.

I also had a terrible case of mother guilt because the youngest had to take herself to the hospital, where a radiologist injected some sort of medication into the nerves in her head to try to quell her long concussion headaches.

Her dad was meant to take her, but he was called out of town unexpectedly and I couldn’t do it because I was at the visitor economy thingy. It was distressing to leave her to soldier on alone.

I tottered off the bus at about 6.30pm, had a quick catch up with her, then cracked on with the forum newsletter for a few hours.

Rewinding to Thursday night, I went to Woodford Reserve’s Most Luxurious At-home Cocktail Party at a mansion in Double Bay/Woollahra.

Much vicarious stickybeaking into the lives of the ritzy Eastern Suburbs set was done during the event.

I took DD along as my handbag and we tried three cocktails prepared by world’s Top 50 bar Maybe Sammy and got affordable tips and tricks to turn for turning our home into the hottest cocktail bar in town from interiors expert and stylist Briellyn Turton.

We also got to sip Woodford Reserve Baccarat Edition, which is crafted by finishing the Kentucky Bourbon in select XO Cognac barrels … and comes with a $3000 price tag. Ooooh er!

I also ran into a former Woman’s Day colleague at the event, who’d brought her husband along as her handbag and we had a lovely impromptu double-date chinwag.

Fast forwarding back to today … it will be freaking full on to get the forum newsletter out by lunchtime, then I am hoping to take the youngest out for pizza to make up for my neglect.

Hope you have a good weekend, catch you next week.
