About last Friday night

Before I reveal the dramas that have unfolded since I last blogged, I need to tell you about my Friday night.

It was GLORIOUS.

I went to the launch of Vivid Sydney, which kicked off its 13th year with a spectacular opening night that included a Welcome to Country, a rousing rendition of Treaty by Yothu Yindi, fireworks, a drone show and the Lighting of the Sails at the Sydney Opera House.

I tagged along with the photographic team from my office and got to see it all up close.

Treaty would have to be one of my favourite Aussie songs ever and hearing it live in such a stunning setting was unforgettably wonderful.

I stood there watching it all unfold and thought: I’m just going to be a spectator tonight and not take any photos and it was wonderful. I got a little emotional it was so fabulous.

I totally recommend marking it in your calendar for next year and making the trek to Campbell’s Cove.

The pics above are some of the official ones, which explains why they are so schmick.

Afterwards, I wandered up the road for another lights on event and was chatting to a colleague when I heard someone singing “My island home” live.

I turned to my colleague and said: “Hang on, is that Christine Anu?”

And it WAS.

Totally blown away. So lucky.

You must go and see Vivid Sydney if you get the chance. It’s very beautiful.

Here are some snaps:

Tonight I’m at mission control for Vivid Sydney, on duty until 11pm as the communications lead. That will be a very different side to it all and I’ll be up way past my bedtime.

As for my weekend … well, it was even more eventful than usual.

Stay tuned for the lowdown tomorrow …

Song of the day: Yothu Yindi “Treaty”
