It’s running through my fingers

goldfish jumping - improvement and career concept

Where has the year gone? First term at school has galloped past.

I’ve been living in my new house for two months, but I’m still not unpacked.

The past two days have been spent trapped at home with the youngest, coughing her lungs up on the couch. You’d think I’d have made some progress on the mess during our imprisonment, but I’ve hardly done a thing.

So many wasted hours spent watching cartoons when I should be getting organised.

I’ve done bits and bobs: sorted out my wardrobe, finished off the goodie bags for the youngest’s party on Sunday, done a few loads of washing, finally ripped up the ping pong table box and shoved it in the recycling bin …

But mostly I’ve drifted about aimlessly. The still-unstained front door taunts me every time I walk through it.

More broadly, I’m wondering what I should DO with the rest of my life. What’s my modus operandi for the next 18 years until I retire?

I schmicked up a new resume for myself recently. It looks pretty damn good.

I’m ready for a new challenge. I want to get my teeth stuck into something. I want to OWN it.

What do you think it should be? I know people have suggested party planner, but I’m not entirely sure that’s the right profession for a single mum with a mortgage.

Thoughts? Job offers?

  1. Wishes to your little girl for a speedy recovery for Sunday! Son’s party was last Sunday, and I didn’t take him to his swimming lesson the day before because he was sniffly and said he had a sore throat… but he was fine on party day. You’ve still got a couple of days recovery time. As for work… I’m asking myself similar questions. We should have a brainstorming session.
