I was saddened this morning to wake to the news that Peter O’Toole had passed away.

Lawrence of Arabia star Peter O’Toole,81, has passed away.
His agent Steven Kenis told the media he died Saturday at London’s Wellington hospital in London following a long illness.
In July 2012, the actor announced he was retiring from acting, saying: “It is time for me to chuck in the sponge.”
He added that he was bidding his chosen profession “a dry-eyed and profoundly grateful farewell.”
Among his famous roles were The Lion in Winter, My Favorite Year and even the voice of the food critic in Ratatouille.
He’s survived by two daughters, Kate O’Toole and Patricia O’Toole, and a son, Lorcan Patrick O’Toole.

Photo-sharing site Instagram released its top trends for 2013 Friday morning, and the most-liked image was one 19-year-old Justin Bieber posted of himself with his mentor Will Smith (Will might need to ramp things up a bit in 2014 going on the Bieb’s recent questionable behaviour), captioned “Me and uncle Will.”
OK, it helps that the pint-sized pop star has more than 12 million followers.
Taylor’s best birthday ever … in Oz!
Taylor Swift celebrated her 24th birthday on Friday with a sweetly scented party in Melbourne.
And the guest list included her new bestie Lorde (the pair grabbed dinner together the night before too).
“My 24th birthday was a Melbourne garden party. Thank you for all the birthday wishes!!” Swift captioned an Instagram photo.
The singer posted a whole series of shots of the day, captioning last photo, “The best birthday I’ve ever had.”
Kelly’s fight continues
A judge has denied former Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford’s latest attempt to regain custody of her two children.
The judge has ruled that her son Hermes, 7, and daughter, Helena, 4½ – will continue to reside with their father in Monaco.
Kelly will appeal the judge’s decision. She told People magazine: “It strikes me as outrageous and unconstitutional that children can be effectively deported in order to accommodate their exiled father without knowing why he can’t come back in and he has not been required to make any efforts to try to get back to the U.S. by the U.S. courts.”
The actress was forced to file for bankruptcy earlier this year after spending almost $1.5 million on legal fees in the custody battle as well as approximately 45 overseas to visit her children.
Prince Harry reaches South Pole
Prince Harry has made it to the South Pole after a four-week journey to raise money and awareness for the Walking With The Wounded charity.
“I think we’ll be having a few whiskies tonight and the everyone’s looking forward to getting home,” he said.
The expedition started out with three teams – led by Harry and actors Alexander Skarsgard and Dominic West – competing to be the first ones to reach the pole. But the race was cancelled due to safety concerns.
“It’s an amazing feeling, it really is,” Harry said after they reached their destination. “I’m so proud, I’m so chuffed and I’m so privileged to be here with all these guys and girls … What an amazing accomplishment.”
Blue Ivy’s starring role on Beyonce’s new album
Beyoncé has has given her daughter Blue Ivy a starring role in her newly-released single Blue. But you’ll have to buy the song from iTunes to find out exactly how the almost two year old features on the track.
It’s not Blue Ivy’s first foray into the music industry. Her dad Jay Z’s 2012 added samples of his newborn daughter’s cry at the end of the song Glory.
Beyonce sprang her new album on the world late last week, explaining: “I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it. I am bored with that,’ she says. ‘I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.
“I see music. It’s more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music.”

According to a publishing source interviewed by E! News: “She wants to stop their fixation on being thin, and for teenage girls to understand that being healthy is more important.

The source added: “Cameron is going to be visiting high schools around the country to talk to teenagers about their food choices and what is important to them. She wants them to know that being thin should not be their priority, it’s about getting the right vitamins and knowing what foods will give them energy and keep them strong. She wants to get their feedback, learn about how they decide what to eat now, and teach them to make more informed choices.

Khloé Kardashian files for divorce
The reality star has filed for divorce from her husband of four years, Lamar Odom.
Her decision comes after months of friction between the couple stemming from Lamar’s substance-abuse issues – which led to a DUI arrest in August and a stint in rehab shortly after.
Reports that the couple had been living apart have been circulating since September and the couple have not been publicly seen together in weeks.
Khloe’s legal documents cite “irreconcilable differences”. The couple has a prenup all their property will be kept separate. Khloe is also asking the judge to remove Odom from her name, isn’t asking for spousal support and wants the judge to reject any bid by Lamar for the same.
Peaches’ spooky selfie
Peaches Geldof believes the ghost of a woman who died in her house 100 years ago has popped up in a selfie she took of herself and her son Astala in the bath.
She believes the haunting hand belongs to the spirit of a woman who committed suicide in her home 100 years ago after delivering a stillborn baby.
“The house was built in the 1920s by a rich man and his pregnant wife,” Geldof told the Daily Mail. ” However, his wife had a stillborn baby and was so grief-stricken she went mad. She apparently drowned herself in the bath.”
She wrote on Instagram: “Close up shot of the mystery ghost hand in pic I took of Astala and me In the bath!! And no that isn’t my hand — one of mine was round his waist to hold him during the photo, the other holding the camera to take the shot. Also the hand is around my shoulder so totally weird angle if I did it myself!! How terrifying!! I am shitting myself! #haunted #ghost”
