Whoa, I have sore fingers from typing in so much celebrity news from the weekend. Happy gossiping!
Jen’s giving away her eggs
It’s nice to see Jennifer Aniston has a sense of humour, despite fielding constant questions about her baby and wedding plans.
While appearing on Conan to promote We’re The Millers, she announced: “Everyone’s talking about my eggs, well, I’m giving them to you.” The she handed him a carton of hen eggs.
It turns out Jen is a woman after my own heart – she has a chook coop. She inherited chickens when she bought her $22 million Los Angeles home. The former owners taught her how to care for them.
Apparently they “love pasta,” and are “popping [eggs] out like crazy.”
Has Nigella abandoned her stepdaughter?
Nigella Lawson‘s stepdaughter has accused her of being “cold-hearted” and abandoning her following her divorce from Charles Saatchi.
Nigella and Charles’s divorce was quietly granted last month, soon after photographs emerged of him grabbing her throat during an argument at a restaurant.
Now Charles’ daughter Phoebe has given an interview to the Daily Mail slamming the TV chef.
“Nigella has not spoken to me since she left our house on that Sunday when the newspaper story appeared,” she said. “She has behaved in a very cold-hearted way. She has been my mother since I was seven or eight and has just abandoned me.”
There are concerns that Phoebe is being used by her father to get back at Nigella.
“The divorce is really sad for the children but Charles should have known better than to let Phoebe get involved in such a grimy situation,” one close observer told the Daily Mail.
But a friend on the Saatchi side said it was entirely Phoebe’s idea to speak out: “She’s completely devastated.”
Usher wins custody battle
After Usher’s son’s arm got stuck in a pool drain as he was trying to retrieve a toy last week and he was rushed to hospital, his mother, Tameka Foster, applied to the court for custody of their kids.
The pair faced off in an Atlanta courtroom Friday over the custody of their two sons, Usher V, 5, and Navivyd Ely, 4.
During the application a recording of the 911 call that was made was played and details of the rescue were given, including how two male employees working inside the house jumped into the pool to free him after a maid and his aunt were unable to.
Tameka claimed Usher leaves their sons in the care of unfit supervision and is an absentee father.
Despite her emotional testimony and the accident that occurred, the judge dismissed the case, leaving the singer with primary custody of the children.
Usher hugged his ex and whispered “I’m sorry” several times in her ear.
A day earlier, Tameka tweeted: “My favorite 5-year-old. What a blessing!” with a photo of herself cuddling her son. “I have always loved and appreciated my sons but tragedies and close calls make this even more evident.”
Ashley’s engagement bliss
Former High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale is engaged to musician boyfriend Christopher French.
“Best night of my life. We’re on top of the world,” she tweeted after her fiance proposed on the 103rd floor of the Empire State Building in New York last week.
How’s that for romantic?
Seth’s sweet proposal
The Office star Seth Meyers, on the other hand, chose a more usual way of proposing to longtime girlfriend Alexi Ashe.
“I tied [the ring] in a bow around our dog’s collar,” he told talk show host Jimmy Fallon (who he will be replacing next year).
But his plans almost went awry when Ashe arrived home later than expected from her job as a human rights lawyer.
“I just had to sit there looking at the dog. I was like, ‘The dog’s going to eat the ring!’ ”
Fortunately his canine friend didn’t and his proposal was accepted. He admits: “Did I cry? Yeah, a little bit.”
As for the wedding, he says he’s not really getting much of a look-in on the plans.
“Every now and again, she’ll throw me a courtesy question,” he jokes. “Do you think the invitations should have seashells or lighthouses? I’ll be like, ‘Seashells?’ And she’ll be like ‘…Not lighthouses?’ ”
“She’ll have to make it easier, like, ‘Lighthouses or rattlesnakes?’ ”
Vince’s a daddy again!
Vince Vaughn’s wife Kyla gave birth to their second child, a son called Vernon Lindsay Vaughn, last Wednesday.
Named after Vince’s dad, Vernon weighed 8 lbs, 4 oz. The couple already have a 2½-year-old daughter called Locklyn Kyla.
“The whole family is so excited to welcome this sweet boy into the world,” a friend of the Vaughns told People magazine. “I am sure Vince will have Vernon out on the ball field in no time!”
Amanda’s parents get conservatorship
A judge has granted Amanda Bynes’ mum Lynn temporary conservatorship over the actress.
Amanda was ordered to attend the hearing after a judge granted doctors’ request to extend her psychiatric hold for 30 more days, but she didn’t appear.
The conservatorship gives her parents control over her care and finances.
Judge Glen. M. Reiser said Lynn now has the “right to control placement and right to determine medical care … Essentially you’re the boss.”
Amanda was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold on July 22, after allegedly starting a fire in a stranger’s driveway.
Sheryl’s a hit with her sons
Singer Sheryl Crow is sporting an eyepatch after one of her sons, Wyatt, six, or Levi, three, accidentally hit her in the face with a tennis ball.
She shared this pic of herself on her Instagram page with the caption: “So this is what happens when you play tennis with your kids, Someone had a good forehand!”
Is Lindsay partying already?
Barely a week after leaving rehab, Lindsay Lohan‘s not letting any grass grow under her feet.
While she appeared the picture of good health in this Twitter shot of herself being picked up by basketball star Shaquille O’Neal with the caption: “This just happened right now!…Such a gentleman 😉 What a gift after a good cycle!”
It’s been alleged she then partied all night with her ex, Max George, and his band, The Wanted.
A source told the New York Post: “The party went on all night long and was so loud that guests were complaining. Lindsay was there with [the band’s] Max George. The Wanted have been staying at the Mondrian [hotel] for days, and Lindsay, who briefly dated Max a while back, was partying with the band. There were so many complaints about the noise that hotel staff had to shut the party down and Lindsay had to be taken out of there by security at 7am. She was with her sister.”
A spokesperson for Lindsay confirmed to the Post that she visited Max but said everything else was “untrue”.
Matt breaks up with Obama
Matt Damon was a huge Barack Obama supporter, but the love affair is over.
While promoting his new film, Elysium, Matt said: “There are a lot of things that I really question, you know: the legality of the drone strikes, and these NSA revelations they’re, you know, it’s like, they’re, you know, Jimmy Carter came out and said we don’t live in a democracy. That’s, that’s a little, that’s a little intense when an ex-president says that. So, you know, he’s got some, some explaining to do, particularly for a constitutional law professor.”
In happier news, Matt has revealed how much he enjoyed having a shaved head for the role, saying it was “really fun” and freeing not to have hair.
His toddler daughter Stella also loved it: “Once my kids got used to it, and my wife, then the rest is kind of easy. They liked it. My youngest was less than a year at the time, and she used to drum on my head. She thought that was the funnest thing, and so, you know, when you’re a parent, you’ll do anything to make your 10-month-old smile. So I would put my head in her lap and let her bang away as long as she wanted.”
Emma Roberts – cronut addict
Emma Roberts tried to throw her weight around last week and cut the queue for New York’s latest obsession – the cronut (a croissant/donut hybrid).
But she was sent to the back of the queue (see below) at the Dominique Ansel Bakery, in Soho, and told there was absolutely no line cutting. And the bakery sold out soon after. Ha!
When she appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon that evening and recounted the embarrassing story she got her happy ending. Jimmy is a friend of Cronut creator Dominique Ansel and scored her one of the coveted treats.
Where’s the lesson in that? We’re calling it – over-indulged spoilt brat.
Oprah recounts racist slur
Oprah Winfrey was browsing at the Trois Pomme boutique in Zurich, Switzerland, recently and was stunned when the shop assistant refused to show her a designer handbag.
The assistant didn’t recognise the famous TV host and told her she couldn’t afford it.
As E! notes: “The bag, valued at $40,000, would indeed have been too expensive for 99.99999% of the earth’s population regardless of race, but the shopkeeper decided to snub the only African American woman who is on the cover of a magazine named after her every single month.”
“I walked out of the store,” Oprah told Entertainment Tonight. “Racism still exists. Of course it does.”
The Swiss tourism office and a Zurich Tourism official have both offered apologies for the incident, while the owner of the boutique says it was a “misunderstanding.”
Nasty.
Mark’s a good sport
A woman was beside herself with excitement at meeting “Matt Damon” recently and posted a pic of the meeting on social media, admitting it was only later she realised it was actually Mark Walhberg, who played along and didn’t correct her.
Not surprisingly, it went viral (see below).
It turns out the photo made its way back to Wahlberg, and he continued to be a good sport on his Facebook page (see above).
How’s that for a good sport?
Kids terrified by Ange
Angelina Jolie has revealed the terrified response she got from little people when she was in costume for her latest role in Maleficent.
“These little kids would visit the set, and I would think, ‘Oh, I am a Disney character,’ so I would go over to them, and say, ‘Hi there’. They would just scream.
“One little kid even said, ‘Mommy, please make the mean witch stop talking to me.’
“Vivienne was the only 4-year-old who didn’t scream when she saw me.”
Ange also revealed that it was her brother, James Haven, who persuaded her to star in the film by reminding her that she was fascinated by the character as a child.
“Since I was a little girl, Maleficent was always my favorite. I was terrified of her, but I was so drawn to her,” Ange said. “She had this elegance and grace, and yet she was so cruel. Just wonderfully and deliciously cruel.”
OK, now I’m scared too. Please make the mean witch stop talking to me …
Amanda’s topless promo shots

Promotional shots of Amanda Seyfried topless in new film, Lovelace, have been released.
Amanda admits she initially thought playing the world’s most legendary porn star, Linda Lovelace, would be career suicide: “The first thing you think about is that it could ruin my career.”
But she became unfazed by it: “It’s funny, because I felt liberated when I was doing it. I’m sure people that are very protective of me wouldn’t feel very comfortable with that, but it’s like, what’s the big deal?”
