I started the week pretty gutted by a 60 Minutes report on Kathleen Folbigg. When the segment began, I started weeping. My husband came and sat beside me on the sofa and held me as the story unfolded … read my thoughts on it here at The Morning After.
Much more uplifting was getting three new members of the family: Bells, Lotto and Lucky Dip. Get the lowdown on them by clicking here.
PS The bunnies are starting to bond … check out the cute pic below. I posted one on Twitter saying “Frodo has a girlfriend” and tricked someone into clicking. He said he’d been expecting some Lord Of The Rings action … I pointed out that they were quite small, with hairy feet …
I was too wrung out on Wednesday to blog, so I reposted something called Jail Birds. But wished I’d reposted Bingo, Murder & Fuzzy Bed Socks because it was WAY more entertaining. Jail Birds was more a slice of prison weirdness rather than the whole nutty pie.
Then I fretted about where the hell the royal baby was in High Alert. (Oh, and someone had a go at me on Facebook yesterday for calling her Princess Kate instead of the Duchess of Cambridge. But the D of C is so BORING.)
And I rounded out the working week by reminiscing about the time I saw Hugh Jackman in the nuddy. In real life. Click here to read the juicy details.
Yesterday was my weekly gossip round-up and 7 marvellous mince recipes.
Speaking of gossip, I had to rein in my “don’t you know who I am??” instincts when someone called Pearl responded to my Facebook update that Lea Michele and Cory Monteith were pondering marriage before his tragic death with the comment: “Er…they we’re engaged..hardly a newsflash in my eyes!”
Oooohh, that got me going. I was all like (in my head – and to Husband): How would YOU know? You don’t. They weren’t. I can’t believe you’re being all know-it-all in a public forum about that without CHECKING YOUR FACTS FIRST, BECAUSE IT’S NOT TRUE …
I mean, hello. I gossip for a living. I was the editor of Woman’s Day for 6 years. I kinda think I can be relied upon to have my facts straight when it comes to Hollywood happenings …
But I played it cool and just said: “No, they weren’t engaged” and added a link proving it. I was tempted to also add a link about who I was too (no I wasn’t, but that would have been fun). She hasn’t replied …
Now, over to my week at iVillage. Here are my “editor’s favourites” from last week’s line-up.
I loved this post by Facebook executive Tom Stocky about spending four months at home on paternity leave with his baby daughter, especially his confession about how conflicted he felt going back to work. Such a wonderful, little-heard perspective >> http://bit.ly/1aAOxPg

On the subject of bubs and dads, I had to laugh at this story about the toddler who accidentally went shopping on eBay. Hilarious details here >>http://bit.ly/10Uu7Kz
This dad’s view on 5 things parents need to stop saying to non-parents RIGHT NOW was brilliant >> http://bit.ly/15038hz
But my absolute favourite story of the week from a male perspective was the husband who wrote about his wife ageing and why he loves her even more with wrinkles. It’s beautiful. Read it here >>http://bit.ly/1dydPtz
Considering my kids have trumpet/gymnastics on Monday, swimming on Tuesday, netball on Wednesday and skipping/art on Thursday, I was fascinated (and slightly freaked out) by this story on whether too many after-school activities can be damaging to children – click here to find out why >> http://bit.ly/1cbSh57
This article on the woman who’s created baby wigs, so your poor bald bub can sidestep the grief and deep shame of being born without any hair … gob-smacked me >>http://bit.ly/14T4M4t
A mum revealed 30 lessons she’d waited her whole life to teach my kids. A first I was like, yawn, another parenting bucket list, but her words amused and inspired me. Read them here >>http://bit.ly/13f5nO1
On the other hand, I found this mum’s message for every woman who thinks a couple of glasses of wine a night makes her a more patient and loving parent really confronting >> http://bit.ly/13PWWfl
I wrote about the daughter of one of the Sandy Hook school massacre victims marrying without her mum. Such a sad, but also incredibly uplifting story >> http://bit.ly/1aK2z0S
Speaking of sad, this post about how divorce REALLY feels was so beautifully written >>http://bit.ly/18mvuY3
Her grandma put a sign in her hospital room window saying “Send pizza”… and something beautiful happened. Click here to read more >> http://bit.ly/11YeN2o
Things lightened up with this fab video by a female astronaut on how to wash your hair in outer space >> http://bit.ly/12JiAdE
And WTF? You’ve never seen a kama sutra manual like this. All you need to know is that it involves monkey puppets… Click here >> http://bit.ly/12IsvVt
But my favourite video of the week was Josh Duhamel pranking supermarket shoppers in a hilarious guerilla-style commercial for Diet Pepsi. Watch and drool by clicking here >> http://bit.ly/1bqudQb
I’m a food fanatic and iVillage had some gorgeous stuff this week. Including …

MY week was pretty dull, by comparison…but I thought you’d appreciate knowing someone is reading your wrap-up! Oh, I did sell 7 cars this week which is not a bad result considering KRudd is trying to destroy us…but I suspect this blog is apolitical so we won’t go there.
I’m finishing the week on Sunday helping to plant 5,000 native trees in the Goulburn River Valley to minimize salt build-up in the river. My contribution to environmental awareness!
Oooh seven cars sounds good. Is it good? What brand is it you do again? Not Toyota by any chance? And I love the tree project- that’s brilliant
Yes, seven new HONDAs is good for my little dealership down here on the Peninsula, in the current market! And you need a Honda CRV…not a Toyota RAV! 🙂
The tree project went well. Very cold, wet and muddy but also very well organized by Rotary and Landcare. 50 people, 2 1/2 hours, job done and feeling pleased with ourselves. Chocolate Brownies on the way home! Pics on FB if you’re interested.
OK – tell me – what’s the sell on a Honda CRV. Hit me!
