Spread the word

Being a blogger can be a pretty thankless task. Some days it feels like a full-time job that you’re not being paid a cent to do.

There’s all this talk about “monetising” blogs, but that’s bloody hard thing. In Australia, few manage it and if they do, they need to have zillions of followers to get advertisers interested.

I’ve had the occasional nibble from agencies interested in working with housegoeshome … until I tell them my numbers. Then it’s radio silence.

Getting your name out there is helped by a few blogger competitions running currently, including one at the Australian Writers Centre, one at Kidspot. And I high-five both organisations for celebrating Aussie writers.

Then it’s down to commenting your butt off on other blogs and tweeting/Facebooking like a demon.

Ever since I started at ivillage.com.au I’ve been itching to do something extra to support Aussie bloggers.

And I’m thrilled to say that yesterday I finally made my iBlog Friday vision a reality.

At iVillage we’re passionate about supporting Australian bloggers.

iBlog Friday is a chance for you to introduce iVillage readers to your blog, by showcasing the favourite blog post you’ve written each week

If you want to appear in our iBlog Friday roundup please send the link to your blog to us at info@ivillage.com.au

We will be posting all the blogs we receive in a round up every Friday morning so make sure we get your blog by Thursday at 12 noon.

And there’s even a chance to win $165 worth of lippie, courtesy of the divine Janet Muggivan at Revlon.

So if you know someone who blogs, or you blog yourself, let us know about it, so we can spread the word.

  1. I don’t have a blog either….I am a ridiculously late starter with everything in life though…I should start a blog…but what topics…hhhmmm. I read a few blogs that in 9 months when I finish breastfeeding I’ll miss having the excuse to sit and internet bludge for hours a day. Great idea to support other bloggers though.

  2. Today I start a blog, and then come and read your blog (my new favourite).. and you’re promoting blogs and being a wonderful friendly blogger. Alana, it’s all a bit serendipitous.
