You know how I’m obsessed with the idea of building an indoor beach as one of my mad business ideas? (No? Then click here for a refresher.)
Well some clever Germans have beaten me to it. I was footling around on smh.com.au when I saw this story about Germany’s Indoor Tropical Island.
The SMH says: “A giant hangar in Krausnick, Germany houses a tropical island indoor resort. Located on the site of a former Soviet military air base, the resort occupies a hangar built originally to house airships. The resort offers visitors a tropical getaway complete with exotic flora and fauna, a beach, lagoon, restaurants, water slide, evening shows, sauna, adventure park and overnights stays.”
The link is definitely worth checking out – there are heaps of pics and they’re all AWESOME.
I particular love this shot of a family struggling through the snow to the resort …
Please let some billionaire read my blog and decide to go into partnership with me on an indoor island resort in Sydney/Newcastle. It would go gangbusters, even though it doesn’t snow much around here. OK, we don’t get any. But it rains ALL the time and there has been many a day during February when I’ve addressed this question to the heavens: “Aren’t you supposed to be in the Northern Hemisphere, winter?”
Ever had a crazy business idea? Tell me about it. I love crazy business ideas. I promise I’ll think it’s the most sensible things I’ve ever heard and I’ll urge you to DO IT! MAKE YOUR FORTUNE! Because I’m too cowardly to ever go out on a limb/go bankrupt for any of mine …

I’m pretty sure that one of these may be being built in western sydney sometime in the near future?
I might be a bit scared to go to that one.
