HouseHunting: the “if only” edition

Thank gawd the property drought is drawing to a close. The past month of Domain dregs has been killing me.

I thought agents would hold off until after the Australia Day long weekend to hit the campaign trail, but a couple of gems have come onto the market. Well, to be honest, they’re flawed gems. But gorgeous nonetheless. Welcome to a special “if only” edition of HouseHunting …

This waterfront beauty at Marks Point might just be the most divine thing I’ve ever seen. Every bit of it is perfection, it was too hard to decide which pics to use so I’ve included three (there are 24 amazing pics on the website).

The agent says: “A truly rare opportunity to acquire one of East Lake Macquarie’s largest waterfront parcels on picturesque Swan Bay.
Magnificent 3,269sqm level lot with beautifully restored heritage residence.”

If only: It wasn’t at Marks Point (a stone’s throw from Aeropelican airport … is it still operational?) and didn’t carry an – I’m guesstimating – $1.5million price tag. That doesn’t leave any money to extend the two-bedder.

I’m also blitzed by this 1920s beauty in Gordon. Check out the cool tree-branch-shaped bits on the verandah.

The agent says: “Rarely do homes of this architectural merit become available. Designed by Alexander Jolly, Nebraska is a timeless blend of unique period features & ease of modern living & entertaining … Private al fresco entertaining patio to large level lawn and gardens on 1050 sq metre land. Seamless indoor/outdoor flow and an emphasis on space with open plan design throughout.”

If only: It didn’t back onto a property that’s smack-bang on the Pacific Highway. High-rise threat anyone?

OK, not all the places still hanging around from before Christmas are dregs. I’m still painfully in love with this ’60s charmer in Roseville on 2300sqm (so much space for chooks and veggie patches and swimming pools and trampolines). It also backs onto an enormous bushy park – no more noisy over-the-back-fence neighbours!

If only: They didn’t want $1.4mil for it, unrenovated.

HOW ABOUT YOU? DISCOVERED ANY TASTY PROPERTY MORSELS?

OH, AND HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY HOLIDAY! WISH ME LUCK AS I HOST AN AFTERNOON DRINKIE FOR 15 ADULTS AND 30 KIDS IN CYCLONIC RAIN AND WIND.
