Regrets, I have a few …

You know how you’re supposed to drink lots of water before going to bed after a big night? I always forget. I invariably remember at 2am, when I wake up with cocky’s cage mouth and a raging headache. And that’s usually pretty much it for me and sleep, as I lie in bed cudgeling myself for my transgressions. For some reason that didn’t happen last night. I left the cudgeling, cocky’s cage mouth and raging headache until 7am, when I stumbled through the streets, wincing and panda-eyed, to collect the car. I’d left it at the local pub, where we went last night for the school’s annual fundraiser. It had a James Bond theme. I’m not really into fancy dress, so I just wore black. My one concession was to paint a kids’ water pistol gold for Husband so he could be The Man With The Golden Gun. Husband cut up one of his old swim shirts to make an approximation of a bow tie to hang untied around his collar. Anyway, back to the bleary cudgeling … Last night’s regrets … 1. That fifth glass of champagne. 2. Cornering a school dad and insisting he needed to see a psychologist. 3. Dancing like deranged dervish in front of the other school mums. 4. Spending my last 50 bucks on a lucky dip prize of a walking tour of The Rocks. Nice, but cash for a bacon and egg roll and Diet Coke this morning would have been preferable … Last night’s revelations … 1. Like the GFC, after seeing Daniel Craig on the pub’s TV screen in a Bond movie, I now “get” the Daniel-Craig- is-hot thing. I especially “get” him in tight swim trunks. 2. Sprog 2’s Kanga-Squad teacher really knows how to bust a move on the dancefloor. 3. Bidding in silent auctions while drunk is dangerous. Husband is worried he may have spent $300 on “winning” a food hamper and a painting by a five-year-old. God knows how much he blew at the fake roulette table. 4. I’ve lost my high-heel muscle resiliance. My feet are still killing me after wearing boots for five hours last night.

TONIGHT’S MENU: It’s all about lunch today, being Father’s Day. Sister is making lasagne. I’ve made a buttermilk cake with berry syrup.
