Doing my duty

I was very unhappy to find a notice in my letterbox yesterday informing me that I have been chosen at random to be on the jury duty list until July 2027.

Blaaaaaah.

The last time I was on the list for Downing Centre purgatory was back in 2018, when I thankfully wasn’t chosen for a case involving something gun related that would get you high-fived by President Trump, with evidence including a loaded Smith & Wesson.

I Googled “jury duty” as I ate my dinner, to remind myself about the rules and apparently you can let them know about any dates that would make it difficult for you to serve.

You are allowed to nominate up to two periods of two weeks each.

I have no idea how that’s going to work when I have waaaaaaay more than two holidays already pre-booked.

Cross that bridge when I come to it?

My boss is going to be so excited when I tell him that in addition to my extensive personal leave, I could also be off doing jury duty for weeks or months.

Have a fabulous weekend. Mine is surprisingly under-scheduled again, aside from two walks and a BBQ lunch at Palm Beach.

That said, Karen, I am hoping all your boxes are unpacked in Leeton. Box unpacking is not my superpower.

PS I don’t think I’ll ever quite reconcile Nicholas Hoult (pictured main in The Juror 2) being the bowl-cut kid from About A Boy then suddenly growing up to be the sexy star of the zombie movie Warm Bodies.
